Students’ Demise On Sinking Ferry

tragedy63.JPG

More than 300 people, most of them high school students, were killed when a Sewol ferry sank on April 16, 2014. Just before the boat capsized and sank students took videos and sent messages to their parents. The crew had instructed the panicked students to stay in their cabins while they filled with water. Captain Lee was sentenced to 36 years in jail for abandoning passengers as he and several of his crew members escaped death. They failed to give evacuation orders and told the children to stay in their cabins as the ferry sank to its watery grave, 144 feet below sea level. 250 high school students and teachers were killed.
