For football quarterback legend Tom Brady, the beginning of his relationship with supermodel Gisele Bündchen was rocky. Just when the two started dating, Brady received a phone call from his ex-girlfriend, actress Bridget Moynahan. She was pregnant, and the baby was his.
After years of refusing to make an official public statement regarding their three-way co-parenting, we finally learned what happened to Brady and Moynahan's relationship and how they're co-parenting now.
Bridget And Tom Ran In The Same Circle
Bridget Moynahan is an actor and model. She is best known for her role as Erin Reagan in the CBS crime drama Blue Bloods. Moynahan is also recognized for her role as the moody bartender Rachel that moves her groove thang on the Coyote Ugly bar alongside Ms. Tyra Banks.
It's because of her talent and fame that she met Tom Brady. After meeting, it was clear that she and the then-Patriots starting quarterback had an instant connection.
Sparks Immediately Flew But Faded Within Years
For Bridget and Tom, there was an immediate connection. They had similar values and were both extremely hardworking, wanting to be one of the best in their respective careers. What started as one date turned into three years of a very serious relationship.
Even though their relationship looked perfect on paper, things just weren't working. In 2006, both decided to end it. Little did they know that there was a surprise on the horizon that would keep them in each other's lives forever.
Tom Was Set Up On A Blind Date
After the break-up, it was obvious that Tom was heartbroken. But it didn't take him much time to get back into the game. His close friends and family couldn't stand seeing his happy-go-lucky personality fizzle because of a break-up.
Eventually, they got Tom to agree to go on a blind date. It was time, and he was finally ready to move on and try to see other people. Little did he know that he would be meeting a supermodel.
Gisele Had A Few Things To Say About Tom
Before Gisele ever met Tom Brady, she had a few things to say about him during an interview with the Boston Herald. She's in the industry and knows how the press likes to spin stories. So when she was asked about Tom, she made her stance on the matter clear.
"He's cute, but if he has a girlfriend, he's gay to me." After the interview, she didn't give the quarterback another thought. That is until she decided to go on another blind date.
She Was Devastated Over Her Last Breakup
When she broke up with Leonardo DiCaprio after six years of dating, Gisele's friends were determined to see her happy. She even told Jimmy Fallon during an interview that her friends had set her up on multiple blind dates before, but they all turned out horribly.
She was going to give it one more shot though, agreeing to go for a drink instead of dinner (just in case she needed a quick escape). Little did she know that this was going to be her last first date.
Gisele Went To The Date With Low Expectations
Gisele walked into the date, not really expecting much. After all of the other blind date fails, why would this one be any different? Then she saw who she was meeting. Gisele told Jimmy Fallon that she knew she loved Tom right after she stared into his "sweet eyes."
She knew from that first meeting that he had a good heart and that they would be great together. Tom felt the same way, and the two went on a few more dates.
It Was Like A Fairytale
Gisele and Tom continued to see each other. Everything was going so well that it almost seemed too good to be true. It was like living in a perfect high school scenario where the head cheerleader dates the quarterback. The new lovebirds kept their relationship a secret for a while.
But when the Patriots quarterback and the highest-paid model in the industry are together, it's bound to leak. That was the least of their concerns, though. All they had to worry about was an unexpected phone call.
One Phone Call Changed Everything
Tom was happy and moving on with his new relationship with Gisele. Then he got a phone call that would turn his world upside down. The call was from his ex-girlfriend, Bridget, someone who he never thought he'd hear from again.
She was pregnant, and the baby was his. He had no idea what to do with the news because Bridget had decided she was going to keep the baby. Tom had to figure out a way to break the news to Gisele.
The News Was Hard For Gisele To Digest
Bridget called Tom two months into his relationship with Gisele. When Tom finally told her about the pregnancy, it was hard for Gisele to digest. But what was worse was the lack of privacy the three were facing.
Just one day after Gisele found out about the pregnancy, it was all over the news. The thing was, Gisele knew she wanted to stay with Tom, so they were going to have to figure things out -- the three of them.
Bridget Cried When She Came Home From The Hospital
After giving birth to baby Jack in 2007, Bridget became a single mother. She told the media that when she got home with Jack, she burst into tears at the realization.
She wasn't sure how she was going to raise her son by herself and thought she needed a partner so that the baby would grow up in a "traditional way." The thing was that Tom was not the man for her. Plus, he had already moved on with Gisele.
Gisele Over-Stepping Her Boundaries
Gisele and Tom married in 2009, and the realization that Jack was going to have an official step-mom hit Bridget hard. Gisele then made a questionable comment in a Vanity Fair interview, saying, "I understand that [Jack] has a mom, and I respect that, but to me, it's not like because somebody else delivered him, that’s not my child."
Rumors began to swirl. People thought that because of the statement, the two ladies might have some tension.
Gisele Calls Jack Her "Bonus Child"
Although the media was trying to stir the pot with stories about jealousy and tension between Gisele and Bridget, they weren't finding any. In a recent interview, Gisele discussed how happy she is that Jack came into her life.
She says that he's brought so much love into her heart and that he's her "bonus child." Sorry to the media, but there is no evil step-mother story to be found here! Gisele treats Jack the same as her other children.
Bridget Moynahan Is Proud Of Brady's Retirement
On February 2, 2022, Tom Brady officially announced his retirement from the National Football League. After 22 seasons and seven Super Bowl rings, fans couldn't be prouder of the GOAT.
And his fans aren't the only ones! Brady's ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan went to Instagram and wrote, "So proud of @tombrady. Yesterday and today, and I know you will do great things tomorrow. Looking forward to the next steps." That retirement was short-lived, though, and Brady was back on the field the following season.
Bridget Put The Rumors To Rest
After years of refusing to make a public statement, Bridget finally had enough with the rumors. Especially the ones revolving around her and Gisele not getting along. Bridget has publicly stated that she and both Tom and Gisele speak regularly.
"My son has two loving parents and an extended family, whether it's cousins or stepmothers or boyfriends. My son is surrounded by love," says Bridget. From crying after coming home from the hospital to forging a loving family together, they've all come a long way!
Jack Has An Extended Family
In an interview with People, Bridget stated, "Tom and I made a decision to raise a child together, and we both found partners that not only supported us in raising that child but also loved our child as if he was their own."
"I don't think you can ask for more than that. My son is surrounded by love and grandparents that go on forever, and it's all good." She added that from the beginning, the goal was to make Jack's upbringing positive.
Tom Includes Jack In Everything
With a superstar quarterback as a dad, the perks are endless. And Tom is adamant about Jack enjoying every single one of them. Along with his two other children, Vivian and Benjamin, Tom always wants to include Jack in every important event.
During one of the Patriots' last Super Bowl, all three of his children sat on the sidelines, cheering for their dad. Bridget didn't attend, but she was fine leaving Jack in the care of Gisele.
After Seven Super Bowl Titles, Moynahan Is Still Team Brady
In 2021, Tom Brady won his NFL record seventh Super Bowl championship. It was his first on a new team, but that doesn't mean he didn't keep his old fans. Despite breaking up 14 years ago, Bridget Moynahan's support for Brady has never waivered.
After the game she posted a congratulatory message on Instagram, "I am pretty sure I am not the only one from #patriotsnation celebrating @buccaneers #superbowl #greatgame #strong #soproud #55."
Some Emails Were Leaked
During the "deflate-gate" scandal of 2015, private emails between Bridget and Tom were confiscated and leaked. The thing is, the correspondence was nothing like people expected. Some people imagined arguments between the parents, considering they aren't together and are trying to raise their child while Tom is married to someone else.
No one expected the emails to be cordial and friendly. Not overly-friendly as some would like to think, but respectful as one would be to the mother or father of their child.
The Emails Prove They're Co-Parenting Right
One of the messages that Bridget sent to Tom read, "Isn't it cool that Jack got a reading award!? He gets to wear a reading star pin now too. So proud." Then, later that very same day, Tom responded with, "He is such a smart boy. And he is a hard worker. I'm so proud of him."
Their relationship in inspiring for any couple going through the same experience -- get over your differences and be friendly for your child's sake.
Psychologists Are In Awe
Rachel Sussman, author of The Breakup Bible and a well-known psychotherapist, thinks that the emails are the perfect responses between exes who share a child. She says, "Just because a relationship ends, that doesn't mean you have to spend the rest of your life being nasty to your ex."
That is exactly the opposite of Brady, Bridget, and Gisele's relationship. They all understand that each of them is now part of Jack's life. So it's either they work together or make him a middle man.
They All Share Information And Stories
Instead of keeping Jack's achievements to themselves, the three co-parents enjoy sharing his accomplishments. Amy Morin, a psychotherapist, and author of 13 Things Mentally Strong People Don't Do, says, "Instead of keeping secrets or making it Jack's responsibility to tell the other parent what’s going on, they’re able to talk about his accomplishments freely."
Even though Jack most likely doesn't know about the correspondence between his parents and step-mom, it will be beneficial to him in the long run.
The Three Of Them Are Friends
Since the co-parents all seem to get along via email, it's safe to assume that they do so in public as well as behind closed doors. Usually, exes tend to get snippy at each other, especially when a new significant other is thrown into the mix.
There's no telling what happens when the three of them are alone with their kids. Do they try and make Jack choose sides? Are the emails just for show because they're not actually speaking to one another?
They're The Same Everywhere They Go
Sources say that Bridget, Tom, and Gisele all act the same way wherever they are, whether its a public park, someone's home, or over email. All they want is for their son to grow up with a loving family, no matter how unconventional that family might be.
Close friends to the three co-parents have said they way they all accept each other in their lives is incredible. The three of them even hang out with all of the kids, at times.
Bridget Got Married
In 2015, Bridget got married to Andrew Frankel, a New York City businessman. Although she was starting to get the swing of being a single mother, Bridget would be lying if she said she wasn't excited to start this new chapter of her life.
Jack's family has grown even bigger, including three step-brothers from Frankel's previous relationship. One source from People said, "Bridget's son Jack is excited to be gaining three incredible older brothers."
Tom Credits His Role Model Parents
When asked how he's able to juggle his family and relationship with Bridget, Tom always credits his parents. He says they are the ultimate role models when it comes to building a family.
It's safe to say their solid parenting skills rubbed off on the star quarterback. His children are lucky to have him! Getting tickets to all of his games are just a bonus for all of the support and love he gives them, obviously!
Gisele Really Brings Home The Bacon
Tom Brady is a very wealthy man but compared to his supermodel wife he's nothing impressive. Giselle is one of the world's highest-paid models and will make more than $1 billion when she retires.
At her highest point, Giselle spent 10 straight years as the world's highest-paid supermodel. In 2020, Kendall Jenner moved into the top spot with yearly earnings of over $22 million, more than double what Giselle earned that same year.
Tom Is The Ultimate Dad
To his teammates, Tom is known as a stereotypical all-American dad. They say that he has no idea what clothing is in style, which artists are hip and cool, and, just to put a cherry on top of the dad trifecta, he even has a pocket full of bad dad jokes.
More than anything, it's clear that he loves his children and would do anything for them, including taking them on awesome trips when he isn't busy on the road with the Patriots.
Being An NFL Dad
Being in the NFL means a lot of training and traveling, both of which take Brady away from his family and children. But that doesn't mean during the season Jack isn't able to see his step-siblings, it's just the opposite!
Tom loves when all of his kids can attend his games, something Bridget knows. The three of them make conscious efforts to include Jack in the events, making the games a family affair! He's lucky to have such dedicated parents.
October 2022 -- The Divorce
On October 28, 2022, Tom Brady and Giselle released statements saying they finalized their divorce. It didn't really come as a shock to fans since the two were seemingly falling further apart after Brady decided to return for another season with the NFL.
Even so, they both said the split was amicable, they wish the best for one another, and they're both keen on keeping their children happy during what is sure to be a difficult time for the family.
A Second Retirement Announcement
In 2023, Tom Brady announced his retirement from the NFL. Well, technically, it was his second retirement announcement! Even so, his former wife, Gisele, had nothing but nice things to say about the quarterback.
On Brady's Instagram post announcing the news, Gisele said, "Wishing you only wonderful things in this new chapter of your life." The multi-photo and video post featured a picture of Brady, Gisele, and their children on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers field.
He Played In His First Super Bowl In 2002
Tom Brady was just 24-years-old in 2002 when he made his first Super Bowl appearance. Standing under center for the New England Patriots, Brady beat the St. Louis Rams 20-17 and became the youngest QB in NFL history to win a Super Bowl.
No one could have predicted at the time that Brady would still be playing at 43-years-old while chasing after a seventh ring. This, after all, was just the beginning of one of the most storied careers in NFL history.
He Has A Losing Record When Facing The Broncos
Against every team in the NFL except for one, Tom Brady has a winning record (including postseason). That team is the Denver Broncos. During the regular season, Brady has beaten Denver eight times while losing to them six times.
The postseason is where the record flips. Brady has faced Denver in the playoffs four times and has only won once, giving him an overall record of 8-9 against the Broncos.
He's Played In Super Bowls During Four Presidential Administrations
From 2002 through 2021, nothing shows how incredible the longevity of Tom Brady's career is then this fact - he has played in Super Bowl during four different presidential administrations, starting with George W. Bush.
Brady played four Super Bowls during the Bush administration. He then played in his fifth and sixth during the Obama years, three more during the Trump years, and now he is playing in his tenth less than one month into the Biden administration.
The Seahawks Played In The AFC When Brady Was Drafted
When Tom Brady was drafted in 2000, the NFL looked a lot different than it does today. Not only were there 31 teams spread across six divisions, but the Seattle Seahawks played in the AFC.
Considering the rivalry between the 49ers and Seahawks in the last decade, it's hard to believe there was a time when these two teams weren't divisional rivals. Seattle moved to the NFC West in 2002 when the NFL realigned the entire league.
26 Franchises Have Appeared In Less Conference Championship Games Than Tom Brady
Not only has Tom Brady played in 10 Super Bowls, but he has also started 14 conference championship games. That number is more than the total of 26 NFL franchises. The only team to play in more are the Steelers, Cowboys, Patriots, and 49ers.
Two teams are tied with Brady - the Packers and Raiders. And his Super Bowl appearances beat every team except the Patriots, mostly because he played for the franchise for so long.
Brady Has Beaten 27 Different QBs In The Playoffs
Playing in the NFL for over two decades and reaching the playoffs as much as Tom Brady has meant that he has beaten a lot of other QBs. In total, Brady has stood victorious over 27 different signal-callers in the postseason.
Some of the more notable QBs Brady has beaten are Peyton Manning (twice), Ben Roethlisberger (twice), Philip Rivers (three times), Russell Wilson, and Patrick Mahomes. Will he add to that list before he retires?
He Was A Seventh String QB In College
Coming out of high school, Tom Brady was overlooked by just about every major program. He ended up going to Michigan, where as a freshman he was the team's seventh string QB! Eventually, Brady started, but not before he learned under both Brian Griese and Drew Henson.
With his path to the NFL on thin ice in college, Brady had to plan for a different future. Luckily that didn't happen, and instead, Brady was able to reach his full potential.
198 Players Were Selected Before Him In The Draft
Entering the NFL, Tom Brady was not a highly-touted prospect. He was taken in the sixth round by the New England Patriots with the 199th overall pick. There were six QBs taken before him, a group now referred to as the "Brady Six."
These six quarterbacks started a combined 191 games and threw 258 touchdown passes. Brady has won over 260 games and thrown more than 650 touchdown passes. Not bad for the former seventh stringer.
Brady Is The Second Highest-Paid Player In NFL History
Over the course of his career, Tom Brady has left a lot of money "on the table." He was known in New England for signing contracts that were under market value so the team could sign other big-ticket free agents.
That doesn't mean Brady hasn't made bank, though. As of 2021, he had earned $263 million, a staggering number that makes him the second-highest paid player in NFL history. The highest-paid of all-time is Drew Brees, who has made $269 million.
Brady Has Started Twice As Many Super Bowls As Any Other QB
Tom Brady has been the starting QB in ten Super Bowls. In 21 seasons, he has spent nearly half of his career leading his team to the promised land. In NFL history, no other starting QB has ever been to five Super Bowls.
John Elway led the Broncos to five appearances, winning two. Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning, and Ben Roethlisberger have only combined to start nine Super Bowls. There's a reason Brady is considered the G.O.A.T.
Brady Has Made The Super Bowl In More Than Half The Seasons He Was The Starting QB
While Tom Brady's career has spanned 21 seasons, he has only been a starting QB in 19 of them. In his rookie season, he sat behind Drew Bledsoe. It was during his sophomore season he took over for an injured Bledsoe and altered the course of New England Patriots history.
Then, in 2008, Brady tore his ACL. With Matt Cassel under center, the Patriots went 11-5 and somehow missed the playoffs. They would return to the postseason in 2009 with Brady healthy again.
Brady Enjoys Avocado Ice Cream As A Treat
Part of the reason for Brady's career longevity is that he treats his body like a temple. According to his famous "TB12 Method," Brady sticks to a very strict diet that avoids sugar, dairy, and tomatoes.
When Brady wants to spoil himself, he eats avocado ice cream as a sweet treat. His personal chef also helps him keep his diet, which consists of 80 percent vegetables, on track. In 2017, Brady released the book "The TB12 Method" which revealed his lifestyle to his fans.
Brady Fell Asleep Before His First Super Bowl
Preparing to play in the Super Bowl should be one of the most exciting and nerve-wracking experiences for an athlete. Unless your name is Tom Brady, that is. Before playing in his first Super Bowl, the future Hall of Famer fell asleep at his locker.
As Brady remembers, the waiting period before the start of the game was elongated because of all the pomp and circumstance. He decided to take off his shoulder pads and lay down, "I wasn't intending to sleep, but I think I dozed off for 20 or 30 minutes."
He Trains Using Resistance Bands
Instead of the traditional weight training that most athletes do, Tom Brady prefers resistance band training. This means that while he might not be putting on as much muscle as his teammates, he is becoming more flexible.
Brady believes that one of the keys to his longevity is this flexibility and pliability. He believes that peal performance is aided by long and soft muscles. Other athletes who have tried his training program have tended to get hurt more often, however.
He Once Broke A Ping Pong Paddle After Losing A Match
Tom Brady is hyper-competitive. To play at the level he's played at for 20 years it's a necessity. That fire in his belly also means that he is one of the world's sorest losers.
Danny Amendola, a former teammate, said Brady once broke a ping pong paddle out of anger when he lost a match to him. Another former teammate said Brady threw a backgammon board across a room after losing once.
One Publication Estimated Brady Gave Up $60 Million To Stay In New England
In March of 2020, Business Insider crunched the numbers on Tom Brady's career earning and found out just how much he should have made in 20 years in New England. Playing for the Patriots for 20 seasons earned Brady $235 when he should have made closer to $295 million.
As we noted earlier, Brady made the point to restructure his contract several times as a Patriot to free up cap space and keep the team competitive. It was only after his 20th season in New England Brady made the decision to become a free agent for the first time in his career, signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
No QB In League History Was More Productive In Their 30s
As most NFL QBs hit their 30s, they begin to regress. A player who would normally complete 67 percent of his passes suddenly only completes 63 percent. For Tom Brady, the opposite happened. No QB in league history has been more productive after turning 30-years-old.
During his 30s, Brady tossed 309 touchdowns. He is the only player to throw more than 300 TDs in their 30s. His 74 interceptions in the decade are also 47 fewer than anybody else who threw more than 200 touchdown passes in that same amount of time.
Brady Has Played In More Super Bowls Than The Bucs Have Postseason Wins
Since entering the NFL in 1976, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have only won nine postseason games. Since starting his career in 2000, Tom Brady has been to ten Super Bowls. As long as Brady stays in Tampa, the franchise should continue to prosper.
The last time the Bucs reached the top of the NFL mountain was during the 2001 season. QB Brian Griese threw a then franchise-record five touchdown passes. Brady now holds the franchise record with seven and counting.
Brady Used To Eat Ham And Cheese Subs With Onion Rings And Orange Soda
Brady might be a health nut at 43-years-old, but when he first started his career, he wasn't so strict. In 2000, it was reported that Brady regularly ate nachos before games. At the time he was a fourth-string QB.
The Boston Globe published an article in 2017 further delving into the diet of Brady. The newspaper wrote that before the TB12 Method, Brady would eat ham and cheese subs for lunch with onion rings and orange soda, later eating pizza for dinner.
The Stunning Bedroom View
Tom Brady And Gisele Bündchen's $14 million condo in New York City is located on the 47th floor of the famed One Madison building in Manhattan, just a few floors below the building’s three-floor $50 million penthouse. It’s no wonder they have such an incredible skyline view.
The interiors of One Madison were overseen by Yabu Pushelberg, a renowned New York and Toronto based interior design firm whose stylish and modern interiors grace the Las Alcobas hotel in Mexico City and the Caroline Herrera store in New York City. The amazing views in Tom and Gisele’s apartment don’t stop there.
Bright Lights, Big City
It must be difficult to watch television at night with the incredible backdrop of a lit-up Manhattan surrounding you. Floor to ceiling windows are found throughout the three-bedroom condo, and make the most of that amazing 47th floor view. We're guessing Tom and Gisele aren’t afraid of heights.
Their $14 million digs aren’t the couple’s first foray into the world of Manhattan real estate. Tom Brady previously owned a condo at the Time Warner Center, which he sold for a cool $17.5 million, and Gisele Bündchen owned a triplex penthouse on West 11th Street, which she sold for $4.4 million.
The Modern Sitting Room
There isn't a single room in Gisele and Tom’s One Madison apartment that doesn’t have a stunning view. Their modern sitting room’s neutral color palate lets that view take center stage. There’s plenty of room in this $14 million pad for their two children to run and play.
The corner sitting room has north and east views, and an open floor plan to take advantage of all that natural light. The condo was originally listed at $16.5 million, though we can hardly call a $14 million home a steal. Of course, the dining area and kitchens are a major selling point for this power couple’s cool condo.
The Dining Area
The One Madison condo's dining area is no less stunning than the rest of the apartment. A sculptural, modern lamp hangs over a family dining table looking out onto the city. Though they settled on this incredible apartment, they were also considering some other options.
Tom and Gisele were checking out a 2,800-square-foot $11.5 million duplex with a 400-square-foot terrace in the Walker Tower luxury development at 212 West 18th Street before settling on their residence at One Madison in the summer of 2013. The dining area isn't the only family-friendly space in this apartment. Just wait until you see the children’s room.
An Incredible Children's Room
Can you imagine the life of Tom Brady andGisele Bündchen's kids? The couple have a daughter, Vivian Lake Brady, born in 2012, and a son, Benjamin Brady, born in 2009—and those kids have the most incredible children’s rooms ever. Brady also has another son, Jack, who he shares with his ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan.
Like every other space in the apartment, the children’s rooms has floor to ceiling windows that look out over Manhattan. This isn’t the only place the Brady children rest their heads. The family splits their time between New York and a 14,000-square foot mansion in Boston’s exclusive Brookline suburb. The couple also owned a newly constructed $20 million home in Los Angeles with a castle-like play area for the kids and a moat, but sold it to Dr. Dre.
An Open Floorplan
One of the things that may have drawn Brady and Bündchen to their $14 million apartment in the Flatiron district is the open floor plan. The main living space connects to an open kitchen and separate dining area, giving the entire apartment a light, open, and airy feeling.
Their New York abode is approximately 3,300-square-feet, which amounts to a staggering $4,242 per square foot. At least the open floor plan makes the most of that space, especially since the Brady bunch have gotten used to their massive Brookline mansion. One of the best features of the apartment is the ability to cook and interact with the family at the same time.
Talk While You Cook
With little children running around, it's important to be able to see where they’re at even while preparing dinner. It’s likely that the One Madison apartment’s kitchen gets a lot of use, considering Tom and Gisele’s strict diets.
Tom and Gisele say about 80 percent of their diet is vegetarian. The power couple relies on the help of their personal chef Allen Campbell, who believes a plant-based diet has the power to reverse and prevent disease. Even the couple’s kids eat a healthy diet, with the whole family cutting out white sugar, white flour, iodized salt, canola oil, caffeine, and dairy.
A Bright Bathroom
Even the bathroom is beautiful. The Brady clan gets ready in the morning in front of skyline views. Gisele, who has talked about her makeup routine in the past, likes to keep her off-duty look natural and simple by rubbing Chanel's Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation on her face.
The apartment has two and half baths in total, with the largest off the master bedroom, one attached to a guest bedroom, and a half bath in the hall by the great room. All the bathrooms make use of natural light and clean lines for a modern look.
There's no space for clutter in these super modern bathrooms. Marble countertops and floors lend a clean look to the rooms, but it’s not exactly clear where the famous supermodel would store her beauty supplies.
Even though their $14 million apartment is incredible, Brady and Bündchen are already looking to unload the apartment and upgrade to a $20-million 5,000 square foot New York City apartment in Tribeca that’s still being designed by renowned architect Robert A.M. Stern. In the meantime, they’re renting out their One Madison apartment for a whopping $40,000 a month (plus an additional $2,500 for the furniture).
A Marble Tub
If you don't have $40,000 a month to take a soak in Gisele and Tom’s gorgeous marble tub, at least you can look at pictures of the space. It’s hard to believe their $14 million apartment will go back on the market after just four years, but the duo are moving on to bigger and better real estate, putting their apartment back on the market for $17.25 million.
When One Madison’s luxury condos first hit the market in 2007, the building almost immediately ran into financial woes. Lawsuits plagued the high rise until new management took over, and they were able to attract A-list buyers like Tom and Gisele. So how can this power couple afford to move to an even ritzier pied-a-terre?
Tom Brady's Net Worth
The New England Patriots quarterback's net worth is estimated at a staggering $180 million—much more than many quarterbacks thanks to a heavy rotation of endorsements and some smart investments. Tom Brady recently signed a two-year contract with the New England Patriots for $41 million, including a $28 million signing bonus, and an annual average salary of $20.5 million.
Of course, that doesn’t include Brady’s endorsement deals. At $7 million a year, Tom Brady is very near the top in terms of NFL players’ off-field earnings, beat out by Peyton Manning who leads the sport with $12 million a year in endorsements. If you think that’s a lot of money, you won’t believe his wife’s net worth.
Gisele Bündchen's Net Worth
Since 2004, Gisele Bündchen has been one of the highest-paid models in the world. Modeling, along with several other ventures, has added up to a net worth of $360 million for this 36-year-old Brazilian beauty.
In 2016, Gisele earned an estimated $30.5 million, dwarfing her husband's earnings despite his many endorsement deals and career success. In addition to landing high paying contracts with brands like Chanel, Bündchen has worked as a television producer, actor, and designer by partnering with high end brands for her own lines. All this adds up to a combined net worth of $540 million for this dynamic power couple.
Their Brookline Mansion
Just a year after selling their massive Los Angeles compound to Dr. Dre, Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen settled into their home in Massachusetts. The custom-built home in Chestnut Hill—right next to the Brookline Country Club that was so exclusive it even refused Tom Brady membership—is moat free, unlike their previous abode.
Their $14 million One Madison apartment had 3,300 square feet of space to spread out in, but that's nothing compared to this sprawling 15-bedroom mansion with 14,000 square feet of space. The Brookline home is just a quick drive away from Boston, where Brady plays for the New England Patriots.
Upgrading to a $20 Million Apartment
As beautiful as their $14 million three-bedroom apartment in the Flatiron district was, supermodel Gisele Bündchen and NFL star Tom Brady have decided to upgrade to an even ritzier New York City pad in Tribeca. The five-bedroom luxury apartment overlooks the Hudson River and is located at 70 Vestry, a luxury Robert A.M. Stern-designed building.
The 14-story building has cycling studios, yoga and Pilates rooms, a squash quart, an 82-foot lap pool, and a sauna and steam room for the Brady bunch to enjoy. Take a peek at what's going on inside their beautiful new apartment on the next page.
Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen won't have to leave their building to go for a swim in their 82-foot lap pool. The 70 Vestry features an incredible spa suite shared by the building’s residents lined with split-face marble, brushed limestone, and Taj Mahal quartzite.
The duo is expected to move out of their One Madison pied-a-terre once construction is complete on their $20 million New York pad in 2018. Then they’ll also be able to enjoy the building’s library and billiards room, while their adorable kids have fun in the children’s playroom designed by Roto. That’s not all their new building has to offer.
The 70 Vestry enlisted the help of renowned architect and designer Daniel Romualdez to give their rooms a stunning interior design. Romualdez is known for using traditional and natural materials and applying them in distinctly modern ways.
This seems like a great design fit for Tom and Gisele, since the couple clearly loves modern design (as seen in their current One Madison apartment), but Gisele also has a green, natural aesthetic that plays into her environmentalism. The 70 Vestry's gorgeous views are very different than the One Madison’s views, overlooking the serene Hudson River instead of the bright Manhattan skyline.
Panoramic River Views
While their One Madison apartment boasts unobstructed panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline, Gisele and Tom are trading that in for view of the Hudson River. The 70 Vestry apartment features sprawling terraces for the couple to enjoy some time outside.
The NFL star and model will also be able to take the Brady kids out to the Hudson River Park, which will serve as their backyard. While their $14 million apartment was beautiful, their new apartment seems to be more geared toward enjoying family friendly activities while they're staying in New York. The extra 2,000 square feet gives the children more room to play.
A Grand Entrance
The 70 Vestry has an entrance grand enough to match its immaculately designed apartments and dazzling amenities. Rumor has it that Tom and Gisele chose their new apartment because of the privacy of the porte-cochère entrance, which they can drive into, providing shelter from snooping paparazzi.
Some may be surprised the couple didn't splurge for the stunning $65 million penthouse, especially considering their combined net worth, but since the pair has been renting out their One Madison apartment since 2014, it’s likely that the couple spends more time in their Brookline mansion close to the New England Patriots than in New York.
Tom Brady's Boston Condo Sale
Tom and Gisele seem to be a real estate savvy couple, and they're not afraid to buy or sell. When the pair sells their $14 million One Madison apartment, it won’t be their first major sale. In 2012, Brady put his 310 Beacon Street condo in Boston on the market for $9.2 million before moving to their sprawling mansion in nearby Brookline.
The 5,000 square foot penthouse closed for well under the $10.5 million asking price, but still cost the buyers a whopping $1,730 per square foot. The Boston condo sale was just the start of this real estate power couple’s sales, and ultimately led them to their $14 million One Madison apartment.
Hey, You Can Rent It!
How much would you pay to rent Tom and Gisele's jaw-dropping, top-of-the-line Manhattan apartment? It’s available, for a price: $45,000 a month. That’s as much as many hardworking people make per year. But if you’re providing your own furniture, you can knock $2,500 off that hefty fee for a grand total of $42,500.
The rental is being handled through Coleman Real Estate Group, who does not mention the unit’s famous denizens by name on its website. The company’s website says that "Everything down to the cutlery and new linens are included in this rental offering." Can you imagine eating a bowl of Wheaties with Tom Brady’s very own spoon?
Were Brady And Belichick Feuding?
Before the really controversial question was asked, reporters started with a less concerning matter. Were Tom Brady and Bill Belichick ever in a feud or even feuding at the current time?
"Um… no," Brady said after pausing when asked if something is going on between him and Belichick. “I mean, I love him. I love that he's an incredible coach and mentor for me. He’s pushed me in a lot of ways. Like everything, we don’t agree on absolutely everything. But that’s relationships.”
Tom Vs. Time
A lot of smoke came from the comments Tom Brady made in the last installment of Tom Vs. Time. Out of that segment came a moment where Brady asked himself a simple question.
"What are we doing this for?" Brady said. He continued to elaborate about that statement in saying that you need to be able to have an answer to the question of whether to keep playing. Those remarks led to dozens on dozens wondering if Brady's final year was upon us.
He's Started Thinking About Life In The NFL
Understandably, to be considered one of the best, you have to put in a ton of work to get there. And that's one thing Tom Brady has done throughout his career. He’s getting a little older, and it’s almost time for him to start thinking about life after the NFL.
"I put a lot into it," Brady said of his career. “I put a lot into it. When I’ve got decisions in the day, a lot of my mind always says, how is it going to help my career? Is it worth it to miss things with your family?”
Retiring Sooner Rather Than Later
The miraculous thing about Tom Brady is that he doesn't seem to be slowing down in his old age. His play might not be decreasing, but retirement still looms in his mind. He’s over 40 now, and he’s admitted he thinks about calling it quits more than he used to.
"I think about it more now than I used to. I think I’m seeing that there’s definitely an end coming sooner rather than later," he said. Reporters didn’t know if that meant age 45 or…
Other Things In Life
Spending the majority of your life playing football and making a living off of it is excellent, but there comes a time when other things in life start to matter more than they used to. Something that contributes to this is having kids in your life. For Brady, his children gave him a new perspective.
"I think what I alluded to a lot in the docu-series was there's a lot of other things happening in my life too," Brady said. “I do have kids that I love, and I don’t want to be the dad that’s not there. My kids have brought a great perspective to my life.”
New Anthem Rules
Not that long ago, the NFL implemented a new rule regarding the National Anthem. Every NFL team owner unanimously agreed that players would have to stand during the National Anthem if they were on the field. The players could each choose to remain in the locker room if they like.
If anyone on the field were to violate this policy by kneeling or sitting, the team itself would be subjected to a fine. Then the team would have the option to fine any of the players or personnel involved.
Challenging The Policy
It only took two weeks for the NFL Players Association to file a grievance that challenged the new policy. To have control over how the players act during the National Anthem seemed a little unfair to the players, so they wanted to do something about it.
"This new policy, imposed by the NFL's governing body without consultation with the NFLPA, is inconsistent with the collective bargaining agreement and infringes on player rights," the Players Association said. They said the new policy gave the NFL power to indirectly punish protesting players.
A Severe Consequence
The Miami Dolphins were on a complete power trip after the NFL announced the new rule. They said they would give a four-game suspension to anybody who went against the policy. The season is only 16 games, so that's a fourth of their playing gone.
People criticized this move tremendously. There were times when players broke the NFL’s domestic violence policy and received much less of a punishment. This made the NFL look very hypocritical.
The most significant change to the National Anthem policy was that there would no longer be a policy in place, for now. The NFLPA and NFL announced that were working endlessly to come up with a solution to this massive issue they have on their hands.
There would be no new rules surrounding the anthem issued or enforced until an agreement between the NFLPA and NFL was made. All of this was fantastic news for the players protesting.
When reporters asked Tom Brady about his thoughts on the situation, he gave a well-calculated answer. It was almost like he wanted to stay neutral on the topic because he knew players and people who supported both sides of the argument.
Brady said the controversy called for "a lot of good healthy conversations … in our locker room. We had meetings after practice talking about how we wanted to deal with that particular situation." Then things got more interesting.
Everyone Comes From A Different Place
Tom Brady might not be the most liked player in the league, but his response to the kneeling situation was a very noble one. It showed that he doesn't entirely only care about his own ego and that he pays attention to important issues.
"I’ve been playing sports long enough [to know] everyone comes from something different, and I think showing respect for everybody, in a locker room, with a team of guys trying to go in the same direction — you better have that empathy for everybody. They can do things for their reason, and you have respect for that. But, I thought it was great." Brady said.
This kneeling ordeal sent Donald Trump into a frenzy. Trump called for any player who participates in that to be suspended or fired. This prompted Brady to respond about those remarks. The two are friends, but Brady's comments didn’t coincide with Trump’s beliefs.
"I think everyone has the right to do whatever they want to do. If you don’t agree, that is fine. You can voice your disagreement, I think that is great. It’s part of our democracy. As long as it is done in a peaceful, respectful way, that is what our country has been all about."
