Kim Jong Il Led “The World’s Most Repressive Government”

Kim Jong Il was the father of Kim Jong Un and is still considered one of the most horrific rulers of all time. Kim Jong Il was called the “Supreme Leader” and held the title up until his death at the age of 82. Kim Jon Il’s government was known to be extremely repressive.

In 2004, the Human Rights Watch said that North Korea had one of “the world’s most repressive governments”. There was no freedom of religion, the press, political opposition, or even equal education. The report went on to allege that “Virtually every aspect of political, social, and economic life is controlled by the government.”

Kim Jong il’s Other Children

Although Kim Jong-un took power after his father’s death, he is not the only child of Kim Jong il. Kim Jong il actually had four other children, two daughters, and two sons. Kim Jong-nam, is actually Kim Jong il’s eldest son, however, in 2001, he was caught using a fake passport in order to go to Japan to visit Disneyland.

Reportedly, Kim Jong il chose his younger son to rule because of his similar demeanor. He also passed over another elder son named Kim Jon chul because his father thought he was “too feminine”. Kim Jong Un is known for his bizarre personality and lavish lifestyle.
