The Corruption of Muammar Gaddafi

Muammar Gaddafi was commonly known as the Colonel Gaddafi for his involvement as a revolutionary and as a leader of the Great Socialist People’s Libyan Arab Jamahiriya. His politics are hated by some, and his reign was seen as a dictatorship and authoritarian. After the Arab Spring in 2011, people began to protest against Gaddafi’s government. People were widely upset with what they viewed as corruption as well as unemployment reaching 30%.

Ultimately, Gaddafi was forced to flee but was ultimately caught by a militia. He was beaten and shot and much of his death was filmed on cell phones and distributed widely across the internet. There were conflicting responses from other world leaders about his death, for instance, President Obama said that “the shadow of tyranny over Libya has been lifted”, while Nelson Mandela instead praised Gaddafi for being anti-apartheid and said he had supported them [African National Congress] during “the darkest moments of our struggle”.

Akihito Also Had a Dictator Dad

Akihito is the son of the Japanese dictator and ruler Hirohito. Akihito was the emperor of Japan in 1989 following his father’s death. His rule is completely different and he is still in command today. He is trying to limit the power of the family and the ruling class over the civilians of Japan.

Akihito is the 125th emperor in line within the order succession. He is now eighty-three years old and there are many rumors that he may soon abdicate the throne. It has also been his goal to bring the royal family closer to the regular people of Japan. The Emperor and Empress have visited all of the Prefectures of Japan and after the tsunami and nuclear disaster at Fukushima 2011 even visited temporary housing and visited with people which is very rare for the royal family to do.
