Mao Zedong’s Other Children

Mao Zedong had six children altogether. Of course, the most commonly discussed are his daughter Li Na and Li Min. Mao Anying was the eldest son of Mao Zedong. His father sent him to Russia to study and he was educated primarily in Moscow. He was also engaged in military service and served in several wars. He ultimately was killed in the Korean war at the young age of twenty-eight during an airstrike.

Mao Anqing was Mao Zedong’s second son, and he suffered from mental illness, specifically schizophrenia, throughout his life. He died in 2007 at the age of eighty-three.
