Benito Mussolini: Totalitarian Dictator

Benito Mussolini was known as the fascist leader of Italy during World War II. He was known as a totalitarian dictator, who was friends with both Adolf Hitler and Francisco Franco. Mussolini was known as the creator of the fascist party, which still has sympathizers in Rome today.
Mussolini was originally a member of the socialist party which was concerned with class welfare. However, after there was a surge of Italian nationalism to which he believed, he was ousted and then began a fascist regime. Although he supported Hitler initially, he did not align himself with Hitler’s views about race. Of course, towards the end of WWII, he was caught while attempting to flee with his mistress to Switzerland and was shot to death.
