Pol Pot Murdered and Starved Millions of Cambodians

Pol Pot is one of the worst dictators on our list, having murdered and starved more than half of the population of Cambodia. 1.7 million Cambodians starved to death due to the ruling of Pol Pot. In the mid-1980s, he fled to Thailand but later returned to Cambodia.

He was sentenced to a life under house arrest and died in 1998. While his wife said that he died in bed while resting and waiting to move to a different location, some held the view that Pol Pot actually killed himself with medication because Ta Mok was going to hand him over to the United States. Others theorize that he was killed by those around him.
