As wildly successful as Jay-Z is today, his upbringing is the main reason behind it. He didn’t get a degree from the best university in New York. The rapper learned about business through dealing drugs. He quit high school to help his mom pay the bills.

“I was thinking about surviving,” he said. “I was thinking about improving my situation. I was thinking about buying clothes.” He said his mom did her best to keep the lights on so he helped as much as he could.
