Teachers Spilled Their Nightmare Student Stories On Reddit

Teachers can be tremendously underrated. Not only must they be sufficiently versed in the material they teach, but they also need to have enough patience and social skills to deal with students of all walks of life. Little kids can do some outlandish things like scream and whine, but you might be surprised to find out that some young students have manipulated the situation to such an extent that it almost cost teachers' their jobs. Teenage students can be even worse as some pose an actual threat to school administrators' safety. Read on and discover a newfound respect for the teachers you grew up with.

Reddit user MimosasMadeMeDoIt writes that one spoiled little girl she had would throw daily tantrums. The moment something did not go her way, the girl would scream. The worst case the preschool teacher could remember was one day when the girl came into class in a noticeably dreadful mood.

The teacher tried to calm the girl down and was met with a punch in the jaw! Apparently the girl, "packed a pretty good punch for a 5-year-old." Rather than getting into trouble, the little girl was not reprimanded by the school since her parents made generous donations to the school's director.

Aimless_Creation mentions a five-year-old who stole and broke so many toys that a "no home toys" rule had to be enacted. One particular day, the boy ignored all command and went on a throwing streak. He threw puzzles into the toilet, rocks at students, and his lunch on the floor, and then in a child's lap.

After running around knocking books off shelves, on his way out the child, "smirked at us and said, 'thanks for cleaning up my mess.'" He then took a rock out of his pocket and threw it at the staff.

An 8th-grade teacher by the username _crassula_ says their worst student was a smug bully who interrupted often and pitted students against the teacher. He wore designer clothes and refused to use art materials out of fear of getting the clothes dirty.

What's worse, he would pick on kids with learning disabilities, "mocking them or their art in front of the whole class." After referrals, phone calls home, kicking him out of class and meeting with him after class, the exasperated teacher gave up.

Peacefinally writes that their student was a good person trapped in the attitude of their parents. The student's parents were lawyers, and the boy would often use that fact as a defense against things not going his way.

After years of saying, "I'll sue you" to the teacher with no avail, the boy finally realized that his attempts were frivolous. The teacher writes, "It took years of dealing with him to get him to see that this attitude wasn't getting him anywhere." Bravo teachers!

Reddit user Shostakovich22 writes about a time a male student outdid themselves in a terrible way. The boy had a history of ripping up projects, pouring milk on other students' lunches, making up horrible stories, etc. But none of it could compare to the day he attempted to take scissors to the female classmate who sat in front of him.

Fortunately, the teacher caught him in time but says it was never confirmed whether he was going for her hair or her ear. His parents were in denial about their son's behavior, refusing to take him in for an evaluation.

SrslyLovesGames recalls a student who, for storytelling's sake, has been given the false name Doug. Doug had a history of odd behavior, but nothing could top the day the science class experimented on sheep brains.

Doug dragged his tongue across the brains to win a $5 bet, then did it again to prove to other classmates that he had. He licked it for a third and final time when his teacher asked if he really had before dragging him to the principal's office. The kicker is that when his mother arrived, she screamed at him that it was the second time this week she had to leave work due to his behavior.

Kiwi0602 was volunteering in a classroom in Texas when she met a little boy who made reading time an impossible feat. The preschool was bilingual, and many of the students did not understand English very well. This made disciplining extra challenging, especially when it came to Jose.

Jose not only refused to answer to his name, but he would also sometimes change it to confuse the volunteer. Jose would also kick the instructor's leg, read other books aloud when he was supposed to be listening, and poke girls in the class. After a semester without improvement, Kiwi0602 quit.

Hummuspie says their 9-year-old student was, "more like a 15-year-old with a borderline personality disorder." The girl would act as the perfect student one day, offering to help and behaving affectionately, and then would become wildly rebellious the next day, crying hysterically for no reason.

Another boy would aid in her mood swings. The teacher writes, "they were besties one day and mortal enemies the next." Hopefully, the two shapeshifters don't end up stuck in that kind of relationship later on in life.

Strangely, this student comes from, "a lovely family and [the] best siblings," according to Reddit user paperconservation101. Despite her background, the troubled student bullied a girl who had an intellectual disability. The disabled girl carried around a doll, her one comfort.

The teacher says the disabled girl was kind and that everyone treated her respectfully, aside from this particular student. One day the bully, "went into the senior class area with the expressed purpose to break this intellectually disabled girl's doll." She succeeded, and in doing so established herself as a bully.

Reddit user Loudshell writes that they were an assistant teacher of a history class when this student entered their life. The boy, given the false name Tom, would sit under his desk in class making squeaking noises.

On the bright side, Tom had a passion for becoming a musician. On the downside, Tom was tone-deaf. He would repeat the lyric, "I'm in love with the coco," throughout class, saying he likes chocolate. Rude as Tom's bizarre tendencies were, he is one of the more adorable and comedic students of the list.

Yellowjacketcoder says they were a college teaching assistant instructing a class with a 90% pass rate when one student simply refused to do the work. The student was on their 4th attempt at the class, yet still refused to turn in any one of the five homework assignments.

The only thing this student actually completed was one of the three tests, which he got the lowest score on. "He had a lower class average that people who had dropped the class one month into [the] semester," the Reddit user writes. To make matters worse, the TA had to undergo an evaluation after the student complained that the class was too hard.

Fragzilla360 sets the scene by saying, "This kid had been transferred through every elementary school in our suburb district (we have several) and now it was our turn to have him." The child would stare at other children, lie, and mimic behaviors to get a rise out of the class.

To make matters worse, he then would go home to his mother and accuse the school of bothering him. He did the same thing with the neighborhood kids, in which case his mother would call the cops; supposedly it got so out of hand that the cops stopped responding to her altogether.

StareyedInLA says that the low point of their experience volunteering at a preschool was when they had to break up a fight. The physical altercation was between four little girls who were arguing over who would date a certain boy in class.

Though the Reddit user admits that the boy was adorable, she couldn't believe the young girls were already so obsessed with a boy, rather than wanted to avoid boys at all costs. They could at least wait until they have enough sense not to get physically violent over a crush.

Middle school is a hard time, but refusing to participate in class doesn't make it any easier. These two seventh-graders felt the opposite was true and decided to not even show up to their band concert, which was worth a huge portion of their grade.

Reddit user philosofik says that the boys went to the principal's office weekly for disrupting class and damaging instruments. The teacher hands it to them for their sense of humor writing, "it was mildly funny that they convinced me for most of my first two weeks that they were each other."

After being warned about a particular female student, tiaamaee shrugged it off as just gossip. The dance teacher found the girl in question to be funny and adorable until she finally discovered what everyone had been talking about. The child would cry every week, due to events she had caused.

She would irritate other children and then cry when they stood up for themselves. The teacher says she feels sympathetic towards the girl who has a learning disability and an untreated lactose allergy but also is frustrated at her constant sob sessions.

Sometimes the worst students aren't the ones who struggle, but the ones who think they know it all. Such was the case with spiderdaynightlive's college student. The class was literally an introductory class TO intro biology. In other words, it was for students who genuinely struggle with biology.

The student not only needed the class given their obvious understanding of biology but seemed to only want to enroll so they could appear the top dog and argue with the professor. Though he would blurt out answers and waste time with pointless arguing, the student managed to avoid receiving a poor grade.

Amethyst93 says that their student, referred to falsely as "Maylonee," screamed in class weekly, "(and by screaming I mean high pitched, voice cracking yells)." The girls would sometimes invent reasons to be upset, which she quickly would get over. She also enjoyed going to the bathroom every ten minutes.

The event that topped it all was one day when the class was watching a video. Maylonee screamed at a student that since their ancestors didn't experience segregation, the student shouldn't be allowed to watch the video. It's a shame that she didn't realize her own irony.

While many of the kids on the list were fueled by anger, this child was fueled by fear. Teaboo_mom writes that the boy cried at everything. And by everything, we mean down to crying over kids playing war on the playground.

Being unable to handle competition is one thing, but the real kicker was when the class watched Aladdin. The little guy became terrified of Jafar. In all fairness, some cartoons are scary to little kids. But Aladdin? That's record-setting.

The next day the same boy took off his shirt to expose his chest tattoo of a very offensive symbol. The teacher instructed him that nudity was not permitted, and the student cursed back.

He then began whispering strange comments and continued the stares. "I can't even explain how uncomfortable he made me," bettybaroona writes. After little action on behalf of the administration, the teacher left.

Zhangalangadingdong says their mother's student, "Jach," was not allowed to take home the class pet, which was a couple of gerbils. Each child in the class rotated taking the animals home for a week, other than Jach. The reason why was because of his history of putting anything and everything into a blender!

The boy also attacked squirrels and birds with pellet guns, screamed in class, and refused to obey authority. It seems the boy simply did not care about punishment unless he was the one doing the afflicting.
