Although their 28 years of marriage seemed to be squeaky clean, Rita’s release of “Forgiving Me, Forgiving You” shook apart the perfect facade they had built over the years. Claiming that she had done things for which she was sorry just as he had, the ballad pointed toward the hopeful direction of returning to the people they used to be in their youth.

But, the lyrics did not go unheard and rocked the press with the momentum of Beyonce’s indirect exposure of Jay’s hurtful affairs in Lemonade. Even Hanks owned up to Extra in 2016 saying that what they were doing to each other was “insulting and kind of foul.” But, on a positive note, the two seem to working through their years of infidelity and seem to have come out stronger than ever.
