Open Marriages: Hollywood’s Worst Kept Secret?

The on-again-off-again relationship of the actress-artist couple is said to be what may have led them to have an open relationship. With Martin on the road with his band Coldplay, and Paltrow busy on set shooting films like Iron Man, the couple has spent plenty of time apart. In a 2013 interview, Paltrow opened up to Glamour UK about their relationship when they were still together, saying “I never say, ‘Where are you? You should be home by now.’ I never place demands on him because I think he’s a really talented man and he’s putting something good into the world.”

Following the divorce, Gwyneth elaborated on the reason behind the “conscious uncoupling” telling Marie Claire magazine in 2015 that “I really had the sense that I wasn’t allowed to have needs, and I had to prove my specialness or self-worth by doing all this stuff and taking care of everybody else”. In spite of this though, the couple has managed to remain friendly, with both Gwyneth and Chris admitting they’re much happier as friends.
