Show Me Love (1998)

Show Me Loveis a very tame version of this film’s original Swedish title, one that was created for English distribution. The coming of age movie follows two teenage girls as they embark on a sensual relationship with each other. One particularly steamy scene takes place in the backseat of a car.

The original title, [Expletive] Åmål, was changed to the less risqué Show Me Loveahead of the Academy Awards, when the film was Sweden’s candidate for the year. Variety magazine refused to advertise the naughtier title to promote the movie, but Show Me Love was not nominated in the end anyway.
