Ted passed away just a few short years after Little House on the Prairie ended. A lifelong smoker, he lived only two months after being diagnosed with advanced lung cancer. Like his co-star Michael Landon, he died from cancer a couple months after his diagnosis at the age of 54—talk about a crazy coincidence! Ted starred in another Michael Landon show before he passed away, portraying the character Mark Gordon on Highway to Heaven which was written, produced, and directed by Landon. Ted was in more than 100 episodes of the show, and it was his final role.
