Comedienne and actress Melissa McCarthy’s now-notorious recurring role as Sean Spicer on Saturday Night Live helped Americans laugh during a stressful time in politics. Although McCarthy was at the height of her professional career, she still couldn’t get designers to dress her for big red carpet events.

However, McCarthy decided to take her fashion into her own hands. She went so far as to start her own fashion line after being unable to find a dress for the Oscars. In 2011, she designed her own amazing gown for the Emmy’s. McCarthy told Redbook, “I couldn’t find anybody to do a dress for me. I asked five or six designers — very high-level ones who make lots of dresses for people — and they all said no.”
