“Bodak Yellow” rapper Cardi B is a surprising member of this list of stars who have dealt with snooty designers. Her story is extra interesting because her #1 hit song gave a huge shoutout to top shoe designer Christian Louboutin. “Bodak Yellow” has the line “red bottoms, bloody shoes” – a reference to Louboutin’s signature red soles. Business of Fashion even reported that there was a “massive 217 percent spike” in searches for the designer’s name due to the song.

However, Louboutin told the New York Times that he barely knew who Cardi was. “She’s a rapper? This ‘Yellow’ song?”, he asked. “I don’t know much more than that, to be honest.” It didn’t phase Cardi, who told People that “at the end of the day, I know what I can do, and I know for a fact that I put a spike in their sales.”
