Groundhog Day fans rejoice! The classic day-repeating comedy is finally getting a sequel. The only problem is it's not going to be a movie. The sequel, Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son is a virtual reality video game sequel and will hit store shelves on September 17, 2019.

You might remember in the original film it's never explained how Phil ended up in a time loop, although a popular theory is that he was cursed. If the plot of this game is to be believed, it looks like Phil passed his curse onto his son.

Coming out 16 years after the movie, the game won't follow Bill Murray's Phil, instead putting the player in control of his son - literally. That's right, Junior wakes up one day back in Punxsutawney to find himself in a time loop of his own. Will you be able to take control of the situation and figure out how to save him from living the same day over and over again?

How does his son break the curse? According to the game's developer, Tequila Works, Junior will have to learn to the true value of friends and family before he can wake up to a new day.
