These Hollywood stars dedicated their lives to one another at such a young age, we have to wonder if they knew how difficult marriage could be under a global spotlight. You may be familiar with Britney Spear’s famous 55-hour marriage, but did you know Milla Jovovich and Marilyn Monroe both got hitched at 16? Or that Demi Moore’s last name came from the husband she wed before becoming famous? Long before the days of Brangelina, Angelina Jolie was wed to British actor Jonny Lee Miller. She must have a thing for dating her costars because the two met while filming the 1995 sci-fi movie Hackers. The couple wed the following year when Angelina was just 21-years-old.

Perhaps the biggest indicator of Angelina’s young age was her choice of wedding attire. She walked down the aisle for the first time wearing leather pants and a white tee. After four years of marriage, the couple called it quits.

Drew Barrymore Got Engaged At 16!

Drew Barrymore was one of the original child-stars-gone-bad. Having carried on the Barrymore acting tradition from a young age, Drew had to grow up fast. She showed just how quickly she’d grown up when she got engaged to Leland Hayward at just 16-years-old.

Though Drew realized she wasn’t ready for married life before her wedding with Leland, the sentiment didn’t last long. By 19, Drew was hitched to film producer Jeremy Thomas. As any parent shaking their head could have predicted, the pair divorced two months later.

Britney Spears Had A 55-Hour-Long Marriage

Britney Spears was another childhood star who had a rough entry into adulthood. One month after turning 22-years-old, she married her childhood friend, Jason Allen Alexander, on a whim while in Vegas.

Fortunately for Britney, a judge granted them an annulment 55 hours later on the basis that she “lacked understanding of her actions.” Britney proved she still loved to rush in when she became engaged to Kevin Federline just months later. This time around, the marriage at least lasted a few years.

Milla Jovovich Was A Minor During Her First Marriage

Milla Jovovich had an adult-like talent from a young age, becoming a successful model at the very beginning of her adolescence. So it’s not much of a surprise that she felt grown enough to get married at just 16-years-old.

What is shocking is that her mother agreed to let young Milla marry actor Shawn Andrews, who was 21-years-old at the time. She must have come to her senses shortly thereafter because Milla’s mother had the marriage annulled just two months after the wedding. The talented actress is currently married to her Resident Evil director, Paul W.S. Anderson.

Marilyn Monroe Was Married Before She Was A Star

Though Marilyn Monroe ultimately became the epitome of Hollywood glamour, she had a difficult childhood. She married her neighbor’s son at 16 to avoid being placed back into an orphanage. The 21-year-old factory worker was James Dougherty, and Monroe has described the marriage as extremely boring.

Perhaps it was her boredom that drove Marilyn to leap at the chance to model. While her young husband was serving in the US Army Air Force, Marilyn began her Hollywood career. By the time Marilyn and James divorced in 1946, the starlet had appeared on the cover of 33 magazines and signed with 20th Century Fox.

Olivia Wilde Had A Secret Wedding To An Italian Prince

The same year that Olivia Wilde was just getting her foot in the Hollywood door, she married filmmaker Tao Ruspoli. If her husband’s title wasn’t already impressive enough to the young actress, he is also the son of Prince Alessandro Ruspoli, the 9th Prince of Cerveteri.

Between Tao’s royal connection and the couple’s Hollywood affiliation, it’s no wonder they opted to have a secret wedding. Thus, they got married in an abandoned school bus. Olivia was only 19, but the marriage lasted for eight years, coming to an end in 2011.

Demi Got “Moore” From Her First Husband

Many stars were not born with their celebrity name; in Demi Moore’s case, she’s stuck with the name she inherited from her first husband. Demi was just 18-years-old when she married singer Freddy Moore, who was 30 at the time.

Demi got her career started by writing songs with Freddy, and began her steady climb to fame the same year she took on his last name. The couple divorced in 1985, and the following year Demi became engaged to fellow actor Emilio Estevez. She called off the wedding and married Bruce Willis instead in 1987.

Janet Jackson Had Her Marriage Annulled At 19

Janet Jackson eloped with singer James DeBarge in 1984 when she was 18-years-old and he was 21. Like Janet, James was a member of a family singing group, called DeBarge. Though their similarities made them seem like a perfect match, the couple parted ways after a year of marriage.

They not only split but had their marriage annulled. The relationship and breakup were kept under wraps, so the reason behind the ruling is unknown. Six years later, Janet embarked on another secretive marriage, this time to René Elizondo Jr.

Elizabeth Taylor Got Married Eight Times!

Elizabeth Taylor is famous for two things: her acting career and her many, many marriages. Being that the star was married eight times, it’s no wonder she started young. At 18-years-old, Elizabeth married Conrad Hilton Jr., the heir to the Hilton Hotel chain and the great uncle of Paris Hilton.

The wedding was a giant media spectacle, and it didn’t take long for Elizabeth to realize she married for all the wrong reasons. Eight months later, she filed for divorce, and a year after that, she married husband number two, British actor Michael Wilding.
