For actors, it's understandable that they might want to take a prop home as a memento from the various projects that they've worked on. This is especially the case if they were involved with a successful series or for a career-defining role. Unfortunately, almost all props, no matter how near and dear to an actor's heart they may be, actually belong to the studio. They are then either auctioned off, put in storage, or even placed in museums! Of course, sometimes these iconic props end up in the hands of the actors anyway, whether the studio condones it or not. Spiderman's signature costume is not only a fan-favorite but is one of the most distinguishable costumes in the history of superheroes. This is why Marc Webb, the director of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 wanted to get the costume just right while staying to its roots and adding a modern flair to it.
In doing so, several costumes were made over the course of the films and one of them may or may not have ended up in the hands of the film's star, Andrew Garfield. After successfully taking one of the costumes, Garfield joked that he may just have it in his suitcase or the trunk of his car.
Rupert Grint Almost Got Away With A Dragon Egg
The Harry Potter series is regarded as one of the most impactful of all time, capturing the hearts of children and adults around the world. While filming the fourth installment, The Goblet of Fire, Rupert Grint, who played the lovable red-head Ron Weasley stole the dragon egg that Harry recovered during the Triwizard Tournament.
Unfortunately, the prop was worth a lot of money, and Warner Bros. began an investigation to find who took it. Grint anonymously returned it less than 13 hours after taking it. Nevertheless, he was gifted Dumbledore's Deluminator as a parting gift after the end of the series.
Ian McKellen Made Out With Two Props From The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy
Already a groundbreaking trilogy of novels, Peter Jackson's adaptation of the story to three movies set the bar for the fantasy genre in film, while also making an unbelievable $3 billion worldwide. Ian McKellen, who played the wizard Gandalf in the films is known for sneaking away with props from his movies, and The Lord of the Rings was no different.
Not only did he manage to walk away with Gandalf's sword Glamdring, his hat, and staff, but he also took the keys to Bag End, the home of Bilbo Baggins! While it's assumed he took a lot of Gandalf's gear, the fact that he took the keys is something he kept to himself.
Hugh Bonneville Swiped A Letter From The Set Of Downton Abbey
Premiering in 2010, Downton Abbey followed the lives of rich aristocrats in the early 1900s and those that served them. By its sixth season, it was the most-watched show on the history of PBS. Hugh Bonneville portrayed the character of Robert Crawley, the Earl of Grantham.
After the end of the show, Bonneville took it upon himself to take a letter off of the art department's hands. The letter is from the character Henry Talbot who invites the earl and his family to a car race. Supposedly, Bonneville keeps the letter in his downstairs bathroom.
Aaron Paul Chose A Gruesome Prop From Breaking Bad
Breaking Bad has gone down in history as one of the greatest television shows to ever be on air. And while the characters of Walter White played by Bryan Cranston and Jesse Pinkman played by Aaron Paul are unforgettable, Aaron Paul took something that didn't belong to either of them.
Instead, Paul took home with him the prosthetic half blown-off face of rival Gus Fring whom Jesse and Walter dispatch in the seasonal finale of the fourth season titled "Face-Off." We wonder if he keeps it somewhere in a trophy case around his house.
Chris Hemsworth Has No Problem Taking What He Wants
Hollywood heartthrob Chris Hemsworth plays the legendary hammer-wielding Thor in several Thor-focused films as well as multiple Avengers movies. However, it's been noted that Hemsworth has a case of the sticky fingers when it comes to his Thor costume.
The actor has supposedly taken not just one but multiple of Thor's hammers from various of his film sets over the years. Furthermore, upon being found out, he expressed sadness not because he took them but because he was now under the watchful eye of the crew.
Chris Pratt Took Parts Of His Guardians Of The Galaxy Costume For Selfless Reasons
First released in 2014, Guardians of the Galaxy was a surprising success, making 20 percent more than its initial projections. One of the most recognizable aspects of the films is easily Chris Pratt's Peter Quill/Star-Lord costume.
Designed by Alexandra Byrne, the costume is intended to look part cowboy, rock star, and biker which was successfully accomplished. Pratt eventually admitted to stealing his character's jacket and a few other items, but it's not the reason most people think. He claims it's so that he can visit children int he hospital dressed as Star-Lord.
Some Cast Members Of Star Trek: The Next Generation Made Sure They Kept Their Costumes
The second series in the Star Trek franchise, The Next Generation, is considered to be one of the most impactful of the series and with one of the most iconic casts. On the last day of filming, Brent Spiner, who played the android Data, asked if he could keep one of the 17 costumes he had worn throughout the years.
Unfortunately, his request was denied. He then went to meet some of his castmates for dinner and discovered that Jonathan Frakes and Gates McFadden had walked off of the set to ensure nobody could take their costumes from them.
Ben Affleck Figured He Earned A Batarang
In 2016, Ben Affleck saw himself inducted into the community of actors to have played Batman in a live-action film. He played the superhero in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, and figured it wouldn't hurt to take a small prop for his work.
According to Affleck, "I straight up stole a Batarang. I put it in my pocket, thinking I had earned it." Yet, that wasn't the case and he was forced to return the small weapon. However, director Zack Snyder eventually gave him the grappling hook, an arguably much cooler prop.

Renowned for his incredible method acting and becoming fully immersed in his characters, Daniel Day-Lewis has earned three Academy Awards for Best Actor, as well as nominations for films such as Gangs of New York. In the film, Day-Lewis plays the terrifying Bill the Butcher, a cold-blooded killer, and leader of the gang The Natives.
While making the film, Day-Lewis would rarely break character, resulting in him taking home numerous of the film's props ranging from knives to clothing. Would you try to stop Bill the Butcher from taking off with something? We didn't think so.

Beginning the series when he was just ten years old, Dan Radcliffe filled the large shoes of Harry Potter for over ten years until the film franchise's conclusion in 2011. Considering that Radcliffe sacrificed his own childhood for the majority of the world's youth at the time, it was only fair that he got to take something for himself.

In the 2008 comedy Step Brothers starring Will Farrell and John C. Riley, there's a particular scene that takes the film to a whole new level. After being specifically warned not to touch Dale's (Riley) drumset, Farrell's character Brennan eventually ends up rubbing a questionable part of his body all over them.
After getting the green light from the props department, Farrell was able to take his prosthetic manhood home, which he claims cost around $10,0000 to make. He also added he frequently brings them out at parties he and his wife host.
Some Of The Hunger Games Actors Took What They Wanted
Actors Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth spent many of their formative years filming the Hunger Games franchise. After the final film Mockingjay: Part 2 was released, a few of them decided to take some props home for their efforts.
Unsurprisingly, Hutcherson, who played the hopelessly romantic Peeta, appropriately took Katniss' locket that she wears throughout the series, and Lawrence walked off the set with some of Katniss' leather clothes. Hemsworth, on the other hand, didn't take anything for himself. Maybe he didn't like filming the series as much.

Starring Shane West and Mandy Moore, A Walk to Remember is a romantic tragedy film that follows a high school bully that falls in love with a quiet girl that is revealed to have leukemia. One of the most memorable props in the film is Shane West's character Landon's '67 Camaro that he drives in the movie to help promote his bad-boy image.
Considering this might be a problematic souvenir to steal from the set, West ended up purchasing the car with the money he earned from the movie. However, he made it his own, stripping it down and repainting it.
Chadwick Boseman Made Off With Some Beads After Finishing Black Panther
When Black Panther was released in 2018, nobody had any idea the movie would be as successful as it was. Unfortunately for star Chadwick Boseman, he wasn't even given the opportunity to take home a prop for himself, and he had to steal one instead.
While promoting Avengers: Infinity War, Chadwick and other members of the crew appeared in Jimmy Kimmel Live, where Boseman admitted that he had swiped the Kimoyo Beads from the film and was even wearing them during the interview!

After appearing as Deadpool in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Ryan Reynolds had to wait years for his character to get a movie of his own. The end result was 2016's Deadpool, which made an impressive $783 million worldwide. Reynolds was both patient and extremely hard-working when it came to making the movie, so he figured that taking home the Deadpool costume was the least he deserved.
In an interview, he noted, "I loved wearing it and I have run away with one - I'll probably get into trouble for saying that, but I've waited ten years to do this movie so I'm leaving with a [expletive] suit." And that's precisely what he did.

During an interview on The Graham Norton Show, Reese Witherspoon admitted to taking home her character's entire wardrobe in Legally Blonde 2: Red, White, and Blonde. She noted that allowing her to keep the whole wardrobe was in her contract, which included a whopping 77 pairs of designer Jimmy Choo shoes.
Surprisingly, Witherspoon also commented that she hadn't really worn any of them since wrapping the film, noting, "I've never touched them [since] and then on the 15th anniversary I took them all out of storage and tried them all on."
Robert Pattinson Prefers His Character's Underwear To His Own
In 2012, while making his rounds to promote Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2, Robert Pattinson, who played the vampire Edward Cullen, told CBS New York that he had taken home a few pairs of underwear from the movie set.
He added, "I took a lot of underwear to be honest. I did that on all the movies [...] They have the best underwear and I have no idea where they get it from. I use it every day." We doubt production would want those back anyway!

In recent years, budding actor Timothee Chalamet has been making quite the splash with his starring roles spanning a vast majority of genres, ranging from a struggling drug addict to a hopeless romantic in the 1800s.
In 2019, he starred in the Netflix original The King as Henry V, one of England's great warrior kings whose victory at the Battle of Agincourt turned the tide of the Hundred Year's War. From the film, Chalamet walked away with a "thick, metal helmet, and a period chain with a "contemporary feel." However, he regrets not taking home one of the swords he used.
