While Blake Lively has gone on to have a successful career, it’s safe to say that most of her fame stems from her early role as Serena van der Woodsen in the TV series Gossip Girl. Although the show was a success, Lively wasn’t comfortable the way it was advertised as a teen show. Although she appeared in every episode, she struggled internally with the content of the show, knowing the age group that it was catered to.
In an interview with Glamour, she commented “When parents would say, ‘My teenager is watching your show,’ I wanted to say, ‘Hold on, why? Are you having a talk with them after?’ From the drug use to the point where we’re killing people, it’s sexual and salacious.”
