Working as a carpenter for one of George Lucas’ films, Lucas took a liking to Ford and asked him to try out for his movie American Grafitti. After getting the part, Lucas asked him to try out for his now iconic role of Han Solo in Star Wars. As it turns out, Harrison Ford doesn’t like Han Solo as much as some of his other characters like Indiana Jones.
According to Ford, he had been asking to have his character killed off since Empire Strikes Back. While promoting for Return of the Jedi, he admitted that he was happy to be hanging up the costume finally. Ford thought that Solo was a somewhat dry character and that he was “dumb as a tump.”
