The world is filled with interesting things that you are completely unaware of. You never know what is happening outside your office while you’re busy at work, or even outside your own house when you are minding your own business. Fortunately, Google Street View takes images of every square inch of this planet to help us navigate this world. Sometimes, they get more than what they asked for.
Here are the strangest sights Google Street View has ever captured. Some of these photos will leave you scratching your head in confusion, especially the one that seems to show a floating city!
The Buzz Mill
Located in Austin, Texas, a restaurant by the name of “The Buzz Mill” dishes out delicious cafe drinks on the daily. However, someone came across this strange image while going through Google Maps. You have to roam around the building through the app before you spot these animals enjoying some coffee!
What Did Gumby Ever Do To Them?
There is no location on this one, just the image of a childhood hero being tormented by a couple of kids who probably finally figured out that Gumby is just a fake (sorry to the kids reading this at home). Even though Gumby is bigger than both of these kids and he is in a suit, he seems to be truly frightened by their attack.
Although it’s two against one, you have to remember that the two are just children. If worse comes to worst, that Gumby character could take them on if he wanted. So he has three options: run away, take the beating, or bring the beating to them.
Cursed Creepy Figure
In Nancy, France, you might find yourself some great restaurants if you search around on Google Maps. However, there are some discoveries so creepy that Google has to blur them out so no one else can witness them.
Luckily, some users took a screenshot of what they saw as evidence and shared it with the rest of the world. This morbid figure standing on a balcony next to a bike is one of the creepiest things these users had seen. It looks like the character from the Saw film series or some other slasher movie. What was going on in that household?
If you think this is weird, keep on going.
Straight Out Of Super Mario
This mystical-looking place is located on The Skerries island in the United Kingdom. Is this place real? Can you really walk into an area that looks like you’re in a wonderland? If you’ve ever been then only you would know. This could be just a glitch in the matrix, but real or fake, you must admit that it’s quite beautiful in an intriguing way.
If this place truly looks like this, it would be a great spot to take selfies for your Snapchat. Too bad we have reason to believe it does not exist. Maybe we should go find out?
Only a few more and you’ll get to see one of the wildest images captured.
Give Me All Your Candy!
Just what exactly is taking place here? We are not too sure. The location of this scene was not disclosed but it appears that toddlers are mugging a random man sitting down while bystanders look on. For one, we hope those guns are fake and for two, why are they even handling weapons like that, fake or not? Is the dad teaching their kids his trade of robbing so when they grow up they’ll be able to provide for themselves? This situation is just odd and in some communities, those children could be mistaken for actual dangerous weapon-wielding people.
Now get ready to see something you won’t believe.
A Scene From A Mafia Film?
No pants, check. Getting out of the trunk completely naked, check. It looks like this man was held captive and Google took the image at the perfect time. The background story for this one isn’t available but from the looks of it, you can deduce that this scene takes place in a nice neighborhood (new car, attractive home).
There is no telling how this man got into this position (and we hope he ended up okay). Perhaps his wife caught him cheating and chloroformed him but he found a way to escape. Either way, this is a great shot for Google to have captured.
This one was quite wild but there is still more that will have you speechless like the 14th image.
These Trees Aren’t Nice
These conveniently colored trees are quite anti-semitic, wouldn’t you agree? But according to experts, they are “shrouded in mystery,” meaning no one knows why they are here in the German state of Brandenburg. The formation is only visible when the larch trees’ leaves change color in the autumn.
“One elderly resident said he had helped plant the trees as a child for the Nazi forestry service,” wrote NY DailyNews. “Others said the swastika grew from seedlings planted to show loyalty after a villager was taken by the Gestapo for listening to banned BBC news broadcasts.”
Tigers, Oh My!
In Boulder, Colorado, there was a big cat on the loose. We’re not talking one of your grandmother’s kitties, but a cat that can devour you. This tiger was caught prowling on Valmont Road by 30th street in Colorado. It turns out that the tiger is actually made of fiberglass and was put in the street to trick the Google folks. People who saw this online reported that the tiger usually sits outside a business called DecorAsian Furnishings. The fake tiger disappeared shortly after people saw it on Google Street View… no word on whether it was stolen or just brought inside the store.
It’s A Full Moon
This is clearly a prank, but a good one at that. It’s a sunny day with just a little bit of overcast sky but people can still get a good view of the moon! By now, this image is most likely blurred out on Google street view but to those who were able to see it before it was censored probably got a great laugh from it. But then you have others who reported it immediately because there are children who look at these things! Great prank but slightly inappropriate.
This next one will really make you think.
The Mysterious Face
The location of this broken face atop a hillside is unknown but one thing is for sure… it is super creepy. Just how it got there is a mystery as well but we know whoever discovered this site had tons of questions once they saw the face.
It almost appears as if it could have fallen off of the Statue of Liberty! But where in the world does a statue of this size stand on a grassy hill? Judging from the size of the shadow coming from it, that half of face is bigger than the average human. Which means the rest of the statue was huge!
Throw Them In The Dumpster!
This one comes to us from Chile. At a first quick glance, this looks like a dumpster full of dead bodies! That’s horrifying to think about but upon further review, you see that they are just harmless mannequins — but define harmless? The fear of mannequins is rather common among many. It even has a name: pediophobia.
Even when you’re walking through a store in the mall and walk past one of the modeling figures, you might think to yourself, “wow, I thought that was real!” A store owner just probably ordered new dummies for display in this scene.
Pigeon People… Really?
Japan has one of those cultures that’s difficult for outsiders to understand unless they’ve spent some significant time in the country. The Japanese are known for their wacky shows, food, and advertising, among other things. Truth be told, the place can be flat out strange. The Google Maps employee who captured this image probably was thrown off big-time.
Even though this one seems more intentional than the other images found, it is still strange. It’s even weirder to think that this group of people was roaming the streets acting like pigeons, just waiting for the Google Maps guy.
My Water Broke!
This image was captured in a Berlin suburb and it apparently showcases a woman giving birth to a child! This looks like something out of a drama series on ABC. This baby must have been ready to come out.
A German reader wrote on Gizmodo: “There is a hospital across the street and they have no knowledge of a birth right in front of their door. In the house is also an advertising agency that has no knowledge of a birth in front of their house.”
This next one just might give you the chills.
The Village Of Lost Souls
This village of Nagoro can be found in the hidden valley of Shikoku, Japan. It’s highly remote so many of the residents have left to pursue jobs in the city. There isn’t even a local store, so there is no reason to live there. Residents die and there is no one there to fill their spots.
“Years ago, Ayano Tsukimi returned to her home in Nagoro,” wrote Aaron Souppouris in The Verge. “Confronted with constant departures, she has populated the village with dolls, each representing a former villager. Around 350 of the giant dolls now reside in and around Nagoro, replacing those that died or abandoned the village years ago.”
Hide And Go Seek: Google Edition
Do you see it? The bright yellow shirt behind what looks like a trash can? There’s a kid crouching as he appears to be playing hide and go seek. However, we are not entirely sure if he is playing the children’s game or not. Something dangerous could be going on and the child could be hiding from someone or something. The weirdest part about this image is that Google Maps happened to catch this kid in such an odd position. We sure hope that nothing bad was going on with him.
Up next, two people prank Google Maps.
No Water, No Problem
If you’re ever in Bergen, Hordaland, Norway, you might come across some scuba divers chasing behind the Google Maps car! Have you ever tried to run on the pavement with flippers on? It isn’t an easy task but these two make it look like they’re Aquaman. Luckily, someone from Norway clarified what was going on in this picture.
“They were two friends of the Google Street View car drivers,” said the Express reader. “They knew he was passing by, and waited for him for 20 minutes in scuba gear. The umbrella was just to make it all seem even stranger.”
If you like big, fuzzy, and outright weird, see what’s next.
World’s Largest Rabbit
Entering the coordinates of 44 14 39 77N 7 46 10 71E will show you one of the strangest things you’ve seen in your life. A gigantic pink bunny, with its mouth ajar, lying in a strange position. Nevermind the fact that it’s bigger than that house it’s next to — how in the world was this created?
Apparently, it was a project made by Vienna art collective. It was made completely out of fabric and straw. The reason behind its creation is still a mystery but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s creepy as heck.
City In The Sky?
One cloudy day in Switzerland, two mysterious figures were captured hovering in the air. What or who they are, no one knows. It could easily be a glitch in the camera or in Google Maps, but there is nothing near the site that even resembles those figures.
“There are also speculators that believe this to be otherworldly,” The Clever wrote. “Many think these are signs of intelligent life forms from different planets trying to contact us. There is another bizarre theory (as if it hasn’t been bizarre yet) that concludes that this is proof of a floating city. People believe this red building-shaped mass is part of a larger floating city in the skies. Whatever it is, it’s worth a look.”
Adam Sandler is one of the funniest men in Hollywood. He has been in countless films and never fails to make his audiences burst into laughter at least once during a movie. And of course, who could forget his film Big Daddy, starring him and the younger versions of Dylan and Cole Sprouse.
There was the infamous scene where he let young Sprouse use the restroom on the building. Well, this image found on Google street view is pretty much spot on reenacting the Big Daddy scene. What are the odds? Also, perhaps the kid shouldn’t pull his pants down so far.
The Most Remote Antarctic Outposts
There are huts in the South Pole that have been preserved thanks to the extreme cold weather. And now you can finally see them with the help of Google Maps. The only thing is, there are some seriously creepy and strange findings in there.
“You can explore its rooms and the surrounding ice,” The Atlantic reported. “And you can see, in that warped perspective of Google’s Street View, that very table where [someone] sat — the bed and shelves still lining the background (and, for some reason, a dead penguin on the table’s surface).”
