The Most Outrageous And Creative Ways People Have Quit Their Jobs

When it comes to resigning from a job, some people think a simple two weeks' notice will do. Maybe they'd include a brief explanation of why they are moving on, a thank you to the employer for the opportunity, and even an apology for leaving. Others, however, like to go out with more flair. These people want to make it very clear to their employers why they are quitting and do so in very creative and abrasive ways. Others just want to make one last joke on their way out. Some keep it short and sweet while others leave it all out on the table. Here are some of the most savage and creative ways people have quit their jobs. Wait until you read about the JetBlue flight attendant that set the bar for how to quit a job.

The Presidential Way

Richard Nixon certainly knew how to resign. Not just from any job, but from the Presidency of the United States. He kept it short and sweet with a letter, his signature, oh, and with a "sincerely" thrown in there to soften it up. In 14 words, he managed to resign from the presidency of one of the most powerful countries in the world. This has to be the simplest ways of quitting one of the biggest jobs out there. A resignation letter can say a lot about a president's time in office, so it appears that Nixon wanted to make it clear and concise... as if having to step down wasn't humiliating enough.

This particular employee simply felt that he had too much "velocity" of the manhood variety to stay put in this position. If an employer can't accept that as a reason for someone quitting, we don't blame this person for leaving. Although we can understand this as a logical reason for someone to leave their job, the fact that it's written on the back of a Hoyts receipt seems a bit careless. But hey -- at least they apologized. This man's gotta spread his wings and fly! We hope that he harnessed that pent-up inner velocity and reached his full potential!

Although it is considered to be rude to leave a job without putting in a proper two weeks' notice, at least this person had the decency of leaving behind something that everyone could enjoy. Cake! We're wondering what the deal with the apple is. Was this person a teacher and there's a classroom somewhere full of kids with no teacher to be found? From the looks of it, this person did not make the cake themselves, so whoever made it for them must have gotten a laugh out of it as well knowing what the purpose of it was.

Twitter Employee Quits, Disables Trump's Account

It's no secret that the majority of Donald Trump's power lies not in his role of President of the United States, but his Twitter account. In July of 2017 Trump said, "My use of Twitter is not presidential. It's MODERN DAY PRESIDENTIAL." As of November 2017, he has 41.8 million followers on the social media site, which he tweets to nearly every waking hour. He knows the power his account holds and has even threatened Megyn Kelly with it, telling her, "I almost unleashed my beautiful Twitter account against you."

On November 2, 2017 a customer support employee at Twitter was at their last day on the job, and decided to make the extremely bold move of disabling the president's personal account. For 11 minutes, the @realDonaldTrump was not found. Although the employee wasn't named, Twitter released a statement saying, “We are continuing to investigate and are taking steps to prevent this from happening again.”

On August 9, 2010, JetBlue flight attendant Steven Slater decided that enough was enough. Instead of filing two weeks' notice, or even making a phone call, he decided that he wanted to make his exit from the company a historical event. So, on that day, after landing at JFK airport, Slater got on the loudspeaker and went on a curse-word filled rant and quit his job. He then went to the fridge, grabbed some beers, and exited the plane by deploying the evacuation slide and sliding down to freedom. It would have been an honor and a privilege to have been on that flight. Keep reading to see how someone used Super Mario to quit!

Not only did the manager of this Dickey's store have to do deal with losing one disgruntled employee, they lost their entire staff. Also, not only did they all quit, but they took the time to leave a big heart-filled sign about why they left and the store that they were all moving to. Hopefully, this manager didn't have a rough morning already, because walking up to work and seeing this is sure to put a damper on anyone's day. It looks like the Lewis Center Store is getting a whole new crop of employees that are eager to work and put the other store out of business. It must have been hard for the manager to tell corporate that they lost all of their employees overnight.

We have a lot of questions regarding this resignation note. One employee was attacked by another employee that was drunk at work? What kind of establishment was this boss running over there? We don't blame the employee for so leaving on such short notice -- it sounds like a hostile work environment. Also, if the boss wouldn't fire the drunk employee because they don't want to work the morning shift themselves, it makes you wonder how they became the boss in the first place. What makes this note so funny is that it sounds like nobody is there to run the store because this person wrote the note, hung it up, and left.

Wow. We hope that you took the time to read this whole thing because it's definitely worth it. That whole message is just plain brutal. From the looks of it, this person's ex-coworkers better start calling their lawyers or something because it sounds like they're all about to get into some serious trouble. It appears that this person was waiting for a long time to finally unleash this on the rest of the office, secretively making observations and waiting for the opportune moment to strike. The last little note at the bottom was essentially this person giving the bird to the entire office in the most sarcastic way possible. This sure is one creative and bold way to quit your job!

Just Gimme Some Kind Of Sign

There's something about people making their resignation known by putting it publicly on the establishment's sign that never gets old. It makes you wonder if they stayed late to do it so their boss would see it in the morning, or halfway through changing the sign decided it was time to quit. Either way, nothing says I hate my job than putting "This place blows" in big block letters above the store. Something really must have pushed this person to the edge to do something like this, but it's funny to us and we hope you think so too.

You would think that if someone took the time to write a spin-off of Rick Astley's hit "Never Gonna Give You Up" to their boss that they would take pride in it and at least type it up and print it out. Nope, not this person. It looks like they were on their way out of the door when this clever idea popped into their head. So instead, they scribbled it down onto a ripped restaurant receipt and called it a day. What's even funnier than the changed lyrics was the note on the bottom that clarifies what the meaning behind the note is, in case their boss didn't understand what it meant.

This computer programmer made use of his talents and came up with an insanely creative way to quit his job. Instead of writing up a typical resignation email, he went ahead and created his own version of the Super Mario video game with a twist. Every time Mario came into contact with a mushroom, a giant "I QUIT" message would appear on the screen. He then sent it out to the entire office. We're sure that everyone in the office got a kick out of this one. Wonder if the employer was mad about this or was impressed?

Apparently, the same goes for Luke, and while taking a bathroom break during a workday he had an epiphany. Much like Isaac Newton getting hit in the head with an apple and discovering gravity, it occurred to Luke that he was not satisfied with his work and that it was time to move on. So, what did he do? He wrote his resignation on a slip of toilet paper and was brutally honest with himself and his boss. We appreciate your honestly Luke.

Here we have another computer programmer who utilized their craft to inform their boss that they have a serious problem. However, this one isn't nearly as clever or as fun as the Super Mario game. Nobody ever likes seeing an error message on their screen so this is just low. It doesn't even say that they are quitting, but instead, gives the option to re-negotiate their contract. This is a brave move since it would be a very surprising thing for any boss to do after an employee pulled a stunt like this. Clearly, this designer thinks they are too valuable of an asset to lose. Props on the creativity though.

We've seen signs like this before, but Adam really took it to the next level by dropping a very public and noticeable "F-bomb" on the big light-up sign outside of the store. The lyrics describe how he liked the job and the people but that it was his time to move on. The people enjoying their coffee there that day got a free show and some coffee.

Funk you? Yea, we'll just assume that' what this says. This lovely message was left by a disgruntled gardener that figured the best way to show their anger was to paint it onto their driveway. Whoever hired this gardener really must have done something awful to deserve something this bad. They better have some concrete cleaner and some wire brushes on hand, because water isn't going to cut it, or else this bad boy is going to be there for a while and only get harder and harder to get off.

Meet "Alexis from electronics" at your friendly neighborhood Walmart. Something must have really sent her over the edge this day because she walked straight up to the loudspeaker and quit her job. This guy was definitely ready to quit his job that day because he brought a can of beer with him to prove a point. In the video, it looks to be about lunch when this man gives a speech, going down the line pointing at his various co-workers saying "F-you, f-you-, you're cool, I'm out". He then proceeded to throw his bag down, whip out a can of beer and chug it until it's gone. His co-workers didn't know if it was a joke or not until he clarifies at the very end and leaves, belching loudly on his way out.

As it turns out, somebody's boss wasn't properly paying or respecting their employees. Want to know whose car that is underneath the wheel of that ridiculously large piece of heavy machinery? The bosses. It looks like one of the employees finally took a stand in the most drastic ways possible. Sure, that will teach anybody a lesson, but I don't think you get off scot-free just because you felt wronged. Now you have less money than when you started. This person definitely let their problems known though, there's no question about that.

By now, I think that we've all learned that it's better to just pay your employees what they're due or there's no telling how far they are willing to go to show that you wronged them. This guy is going to need to hire a new driver just to get his car out of here.

The lesson that we learned here: Bartenders will use their tricks against you if you get on their bad side. Sure, we've all seen how to make the glasses stand like this with the water still inside, but it's essentially impossible to undo this trick. This bartender sent a very clear message to his boss using a trick that has most likely earned him some extra tips in the past. His best bet is to just pull them all at once and clean it up all at the same time rather than try and figure out the secret to it because there isn't one.

The Nice Guy

There is no doubt that this person's boss got the hint that his employee quit. But in our humble opinion, wouldn't it have been more effective to not clean the grill at all and write "I'm out" in big letters over the whole thing? Maybe the employee isn't that ruthless and thought it would be funny to just leave a little something behind to commemorate his last day of employment. It's still pretty funny, just a little bit on the petty side of things. Congratulations on cleaning your last grill though!
