Jennifer Aniston finally took the plunge and joined Instagram on October 16th. Fans were so excited about her joining the platform that she she broke a Guinness World Record with her followers.
The actress is the quickest ever to hit one million followers on the platform. It only took her five hours and 16 minutes to get there. Her record beats the previous record set by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle by 29 minutes.
To commemorate her introduction to the platform, she shared a picture of herself and her former Friends costars with the caption “And now we’re Instagram FRIENDS too. HI INSTAGRAM.” The selfie has herself, Courtney Cox, Matthew Perry, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer.
Her account became so popular that it crashed temporarily and led to Instagram having to issue a statement.
“We are aware that some people are having issues following Jen’s page — the volume of interest is incredible! We are actively working on a solution and hope to have the page up and running smoothly again shortly,” said an Instagram spokesperson.
Aniston followed up her first post with a comedic video about her crashing the platform.
“I swear I didn’t mean to break it… Thank you guys for the kind, glitchy welcome,” said her caption. So far, the actress is killing it with her pictures and we can’t wait to get even more behind the scenes snaps from the star!
