Dolly Parton, singer, songwriter and darling of the country music scene is a pure musical sensation. Her career has brought her so much success that she even opened her own theme park, Dollywood. She’s as famous for her quick wit and striking good looks (which lately come from the surgeon’s knife, as she’s more than willing to admit) as her music. One thing that most people don’t have much insight into is the star’s fascinating love life. Despite one long marriage, that hasn’t stopped an incredible number of rumored detours on the road to everlasting love, as you’ll see in this article!
Dolly’s Humble Beginnings
Dolly Parton says she grew up “dirt poor” in a rural farming family. When she was born, her father is alleged to have paid the delivering doctor with crops rather than cash. Her family’s poverty is addressed in many of her songs such as “In the Good Old Days (When Times Were Bad)” and“Coat of Many Colors.”
Her family lived in a single-room cabin in the Great Smoky Mountains. Dolly was one of an incredible 12 children of Robert Lee Parton and Avie Lee Parton. She was born and raised in the Pentecostal faith which also brought her to her love of music.
