John F. Kennedy was widely respected as President, but the political powerhouse had multiple affairs during his marriage. Jackie Kennedy reportedly knew the names of every one of his mistresses, but the one she had the most difficulty with was the blonde bombshell, Marilyn Monroe. The pin-up reportedly believed she could be the President’s second wife. According to Christopher Andersen, author of These Precious Few Days: The Final Years of Jack with Jackie, Marilyn called Jackie and admitted the affair. The First Lady feared Marilyn “was a loose cannon who could go public at any time, causing a scandal that would obliterate her husband’s reputation, destroy her marriage and hold her up to public ridicule.”

John F. Kennedy wasn’t the first President to have an affair though.
