One of Kanye West’s most famous songs is called “Gold Digger,” which many celebrities can relate to, as they are famously plagued by those who want a piece of their wealth. Check out this list of people who allegedly married celebrities for wealth and those who upped their net worth by finding a significant other with a desirable bank account. Political figures, movie stars, models and tech moguls, this list has got it all!
Mariah Carey And James Packer Call It Off
Mariah Carey has a massive reputation as a diva who demands the finest of all that life has to offer at all times. Of course, some might argue that Mariah has earned such a reputation with her amazing voice. Mariah married comedian and television presenter Nick Cannon back in 2008 and are co-parenting their twins after filing for divorce in 2014. At the time, many rumors flew around that Nick had married Mariah for her money as she was the more successful one in the relationship. More recently, Mariah became engaged to billionaire businessman James Packer. However, the two later did not follow through with the nuptials after it was rumored Mariah did not want to sign a prenuptial agreement and was interested in James for his money.
Steadman Graham and Oprah Winfrey
Steadman Graham is a educator and speaker. He first met Oprah Winfrey in the 1980s and the two have been together since 1986. While Steadman would be considered a successful man in his own right, he certainly is not as successful as his counterpart Oprah – at least monetarily anyway. The two were engaged to be married at some point in the 1990s but never followed through with the union, instead deciding to have a “spiritual union”. They never had children together, although Steadman has one adult daughter from a previous relationship. While many have said that Steadman was with Oprah for her money, they have been together for over thirty years so that is likely not the case.
Kim and Kanye Join Empires
ANGELA WEISS/AFP/Getty Images
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West were married in a lavish ceremony in 2014. The two also share two beautiful children together. Kanye allegedly pursued Kim for years before she finally entered into a relationship with him. The two are both extremely wealthy in their own right, although Kim is said to have an even more massive fortune. These two are both said to value expensive things, especially Kim who was often seen flaunting designer fashions and diamonds across her social media. This, however, has since changed since Kim was tied up and robbed at gunpoint while in Paris. Kim claims the incident has changed her as a person and she has re-prioritized what is really important in life.
Kevin Federline and Britney Spears’ Short & Quick Marriage
Vince Bucci/Getty Images
Kevin Federline was a mildly successful background dancer when he met pop princess Britney Spears at the height of her career. Britney had essentially what amounted to a business empire. Although Kevin was already in a relationship with the mother of his children, the two fell into a torrid romance. Three months later they became engaged. The two went on to have two children together but filed for divorce almost immediately after the birth of their second child. From then on Britney went into a tailspin and ultimately lost custody of her two children to Kevin. Britney’s breakdown was extremely publicized and it was very hard to watch. She has now regained custody of the boys and has totally turned her public and private life around.
Amy Irving & Steven Spielberg’s $100 Million Divorce
Amy Irving is an actress who might be best known for her role as Sue Snell in the horror movie Carrie. She started dating famous director Steven Spielberg who was already very successful in the late 1970s. The two remained together until 1980 when Amy began a relationship with Willie Nelson who was co-starring with her in a film. Because of the breakup, Amy was no longer able to have the role of Marion in The Raiders of The Lost Ark, which was obviously a massive role. Not long after, Steven and Amy got back together and were married in 1985. The two had a son named Max in 1985. They later divorced in 1989. Amy famously was given a $100 million divorce settlement. Steven tried to claim the two had a prenuptial agreement, which had been written on a napkin, but the judge declared it to be invalid.
Stephen Belafonte and Mel B

Mel B is more famous as her alter ego Scary Spice of the Spice Girls. Mel has not had the best luck with men, she famously had a child with the iconic comedian Eddie Murphy who denied paternity before being forced to take responsibility for their child Angel. She went on to marry a man named Stephen Belafonte in 2007. The two recently separated with many accusations being thrown both ways including that Stephen impregnated the nanny and that he was abusive. Stephen claimed to be a music producer but it has also been said that he changed his last name in order to claim a connection to the legendary Harry Belafonte. Stephen attempted to request spousal support from Mel including hundreds of dollars for his cell phone payment. The divorce has not yet been finalized so we are sure to hear more claims from both sides in the coming months.
Vanessa Bryant And Kobe Bryant
Stephen Dunn/Getty Images
Vanessa Laine met Kobe Bryant while she was serving as an extra in a music video. She was still in high school at the time and Kobe was already playing in the NBA. The two quickly fell madly in love but there was such a media frenzy surrounding the couple that Vanessa was unable to finish high school and had to do independent study. They later married when she was nineteen and he was twenty-two. The two now have three daughters together. At one point, Kobe was caught in a cheating scandal and Vanessa publicly endured the situation but remained with her husband. Allegedly, Kobe has cheated numerous other times since the public scandal. Although there is reportedly an agreement between the two involving money because if the two ever split he would definitely have to pay Vanessa quite a bit.
Miranda Kerr and Evan Spiegel
Tommaso Boddi/Getty Images for Baby2Baby
Supermodel Miranda Kerr was previously married to Lord of the Rings actor Orlando Bloom and the two share one son together. After the two divorced in 2013 Miranda was seen galivanting with various wealthy men including James Packard who went on to get engaged to Mariah Carey. Miranda ended up meeting Evan Spiegel who founded Snapchat. Evan is only twenty-seven years old and is already reportedly a billionaire. Evan and Miranda married in 2017. While Miranda has certainly found success as a model in her own right, her wealth certainly doesn’t stand a chance against her new husband’s reported $4 billion fortune.
Ivana Trump And Rossano Rubicondi
Ivana Zelníčková met Donald Trump in the 1970s while Donald was still known primarily as the son of Fred Trump a real estate developer. In the ’80s Donald and Ivana became more famous within the New York social scene. Donald cheated on Ivana with Marla Maples, which was very popular tabloid fodder at the time, and the two divorced. Donald went on to marry and divorce Marla, and later marry Melania his current wife. Ivana also moved on to a much younger man Rossano Rubicondi. When they married she was 59 and he was 36. Their marriage was hosted by her ex Donald at Mar-a-Lago. It was widely alleged that Rossano had married Ivana for her (and Donald’s money). The two have since separated and are said to have an “on-again off-again” relationship.
Elin Nordegren And Tiger Woods
Elin Nordegren is a former model who married the legendary golfer Tiger Woods. Tiger has a reported fortune of around $740 million. The two share two children together. Their relationship famously came to a head after Elin allegedly attacked Tiger with a golf club outside his home after it was revealed that he had been cheating on her with numerous women. After the very public cheating scandal, the two divorced. Elin has since moved on and in 2016 was said to be dating the much older coal magnate billionaire Chris Cline. It is unknown if the two are still dating but it has also been reported that she was “texting” rocker Gavin Rossdale.
Amber Heard and Elon Musk
Amber Heard is an actress who famously married the much older actor Johnny Depp. After the two divorced and Amber accused Johnny of physically abusing her (even providing video evidence of an enraged Johnny), rumors swirled that Amber had married Johnny for his money. Whatever the truth maybe, Amber has moved on to a man with even greater wealth. While it was rumored that Amber was dating business magnate Elon Musk, she eschewed the rumors. However, it was later revealed that it was true and that the two are currently in a relationship. Elon is worth a reported $16.7 billion.
Frédéric Prinz von Anhalt And Zsa Zsa Gabor
Frédéric Prinz von Anhalt was famously married to actress and heiress Zsa Zsa Gabor. He apparently changed his name in order to gain a royal title after he paid to be adopted as an adult by Princess Marie-Auguste of Anhalt. Rumors swirled around him for years, particularly his intentions with Zsa Zsa. However, he remained with her until her death in 2017. He was also known for a flamboyant lifestyle and had apparently married and divorced numerous times previously, and was always married to women of wealth. Frédéric reportedly said of his marriage to Zsa Zsa, “We didn’t marry for love.”
Raffaello Follieri and Anne Hathaway
Stephen Lovekin/Getty Images for IMG
In the early 2000s, American actress Anne Hathway entered into a relationship with an Italian man who claimed to be a real estate developer, Raffaello Follieri. Rafaello also claimed to have started a charitable foundation which Anne helped to found. The foundation was later investigated by the IRS for not filing the proper financial forms. Raffaello was soon thereafter arrested when it was revealed he had defrauded investors out of millions of dollars in some Bernie Madoff-esque scheme. Anne ended the relationship but she was still looked at during the investigation although she wasn’t charged with a crime. Her ex ended up being sentenced to four and a half years in jail and Anne moved on to a new businessman husband.
Melania and Donald Trump
Melania Knauss first met businessman and real-estate investor Donald Trump in 1998. Donald is twenty-five years her senior. The two married in 2005 and Melania gave birth to their son Barron in 2006, the same year she became a citizen of the United States of America. The marriage was Melania’s first and Donald’s third marriage. It is also his second marriage to an immigrant of the United States Donald Trump has claimed and is estimated to be worth billions of dollars, although the reality is unknown since he has refused to release his tax returns to the public since the 2016 presidential election.
Casper Smart and Jennifer Lopez
Casper Smart was a background dancer when he first met girlfriend Jennifer Lopez. The two first met in 2011 while Casper was working as a dancer for the pop star. Jennifer is also quite a bit older than Casper however the two made it work. They split for some time after rumors were floating around that he was cheating on her, however ultimately, they got back together. It was alleged that Jennifer was funding Casper’s lavish lifestyle and that he wanted her to continue funding his lifestyle. The two finally split for good in 2016 and Jennifer has now since moved on to someone more her financial speed, retired baseball player and businessman Alex Rodriguez.
Elizabeth Taylor And Larry Fortensky
Legendary movie star Elizabeth Taylor was often rumored to be a gold digger throughout her many marriages to wealthy men. Elizabeth was married eight times to seven different men. However, Elizabeth was able to garner her own fortune over the years with her films and various merchandise like her famous White Diamonds perfume for instance. The rumors were flipped with Elizabeth’s last marriage to Larry Fortensky. There were rumors that surrounded the couple and particularly that Larry was just in for the money which he strongly denied. The two remained married until 1996. Elizabeth passed away years later in 2011 at the age of seventy-nine after years of health problems.
Yolanda Hadid And David Foster
Former model Yolanda Hadid Foster married real estate magnate Mohamed Hadid. The two had three children together: Gigi, Bella, and Anwar – all of whom have become models themselves. Yolanda and Mohamed later divorced and she went on to marry the multi-award winning mega producer and musician David Foster. Yolanda later became well-known on her own after she was featured as a housewife in The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Yolanda and David end up divorcing in 2015 and she has since reverted her last name to Hadid in order to match her children’s last name.
Blac Chyna And Rob Kardashian
Blac Chyna is a former adult entertainer and current model and social media personality. She entered into a relationship with the rapper Tyga, who has had minor success, and the two have a son together. She was formerly a good friend of Kim Kardashian’s until drama tore apart the friendship. Later, Kim’s younger sister Kylie began a relationship with Tyga, allegedly when she was still underage. At that point, Chyna entered into a relationship with Kim and Kylie’s brother Rob Kardashian. The two began a relationship and later became engaged and had a daughter together named Dream. Chyna and Rob have been on and off over the months often airing out their personal drama on social media. Rob Kardashian recently went on a tirade raging against Chyna claiming she had a baby with him to get back at Tyga and that she had taken millions of dollars from him.
Crystal Harris And Hugh Hefner
Crystal Harris Hefner is a former playmate and model who married Playboy founder Hugh Hefner in 2012. The marriage was noteworthy because Hugh was previously in a relationship with Holly Madison of The Girls Next Door. Holly was very vocal that she wanted to marry Hugh and have children to which Hugh reportedly refused. Hugh is old enough to be his wife’s grandfather with a whopping sixty-year age difference. The two were originally set to be married in 2011 but Crystal called off the wedding only five days before their original wedding date. The two later reconciled and remained married until Hefner’s death in September 2017.
Anna Nicole Smith And J. Howard Marshall
Anna Nicole Smith has pretty much the quintessential story of a “gold digger”. She rose from an extremely poor background with very few economic opportunities to that of a lavish lifestyle. In 1991, Anna was working at a strip club where she met oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall who was already in his late 80s. The two later wed and Anna embarked on a successful modeling career with jobs for Playboy and Guess Jeans among others. Around a year after their marriage, J. Howard Marshall died at the age of ninety. From then a massive court battle was drawn out between the sons of J. Howard Marshall versus Anna Nicole in the claim for J. Howard’s fortune of $1.6 billion. The court battle has raged on even after the death of Anna and J.Howard’s son.
Kim Was Paid $20 Million to Marry Kris Humphries
When Kim Kardashian married Kris Humphries her net worth was reported to be $35 million, while her hubby’s was just a cool $8 million. For this reason, the tabloids frequently speculated that Kris was riding Kim’s koattails (sorry, we had to) all the way to the bank. But in a surprising twist of events that only a Kardashian could pull, it appears Kim may have been just as guilty as marrying for money too. Apparently, Kim was paid $20 million to sell exclusive rights for her lavish wedding. This includes the TV rights with E! to document the event, as well as the rights to sell and photos or videos. Maybe her 72-day marriage was for money after all!
Kimora Lee Simmons and Russell Simmons
Kimora Lee Simmons was just 17 years old when she met 30-something Russell Simmons. The former model was still in high school at the time and the entrepreneur-producer was a self-admitted ladies’ man worth a cool $340 million. So when the two started a relationship not long after, heads turned. While there has never been any confirmation that Kimora married Russell for his money, people thought it was strange that a young and ambitious woman would shack up with a man nearly 18 years older. In any case, the two seemed to have had a successful relationship. They were married for 11 years and have two daughters together.
Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey
Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey were both famous in their own right when the pair got together. But while Nick had found meager success with the boy band 98 Degrees, it was Jessica who was bringing in the bacon from her album sales, world tour, and acting career. When the couple announced their engagement, many people questioned whether their love was true…or if Nick was in it for the money and Hollywood relevance. The couple’s cringe-worthy relationship was famously chronicled in MTV’s The Newlyweds before the celebs divorced in 2005.
Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa
How many of you would marry someone you didn’t like for one year if you knew you’d get $1 million out of it? In full transparency, we probably would! That’s exactly what happened to Amber Rose and her short-lived marriage to Wiz Khalifa…well, sort of. The former stripper-turned-model and cannabis-loving rapper got engaged in March 2012 and married the following year. Their marriage was cut short however and the couple divorced just 14 months later citing irreconcilable differences. While we can’t say for sure if Amber married solely for money, she did walk away with a cool million dollars and tens of thousands in child support.
Paul McCartney and Heather Mills
Heather Mills and Paul McCartney met in 1999 and were married three years later and had a daughter shortly after. But despite what seemed like a sound relationship, the two separated in 2006 and things got ugly. Mills stated McCartney was constantly drunk and had stabbed her with a broken wine glass and was seeking $125 million for the divorce. Mills public image soon fell apart as it turns out she embellished many of her stories. Things only got worse when her former publicist unleashed some not-so-nice words about Mills’ marital intentions, saying, “She’s a gold digger. I’m certain her marriage to Paul was all about the money.”
Salma Hayek and Francois-Henri Pinault
Sure, Salma Hayek is successful in her own right. But when the leggy actress married French billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault, many people wondered if money had anything to do with it. Things only got weirder after the couple said I do.” Apparently, Hayek wanted to immediately retire, but her new beau wouldn’t allow it and told her she still had to work. Hayek has been quick to defend any gold digging rumors though, saying, “I have a system in my life that I’ve chosen, where my expenses from before the marriage are my expenses. And he goes, ‘I know. That’s why I want to marry you.’ Maybe that’s also part of what works great in my marriage. I still have my independence.”
Arlene Silver and Dick Van Dyke
Sure, Dick Van Dyke was easy on the eyes in his glory days, but when 40-year-old Arlene Silver married the actor he was pushing 86. The sheer age difference alone had everyone questioning Silver’s intentions. The two met in at the SAG Awards in 2008 when Silver was working as a makeup artist and wed four years later. Despite the 46-year age gap and Dick’s reported net worth of $30 million, the two seem pretty happy. On their relationship, Dick said, “She’s very mature for her age and I’m very immature for my age so it’s just about right!”
Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson
This is the second time Jessica Simpson has made our list for wedding men worth just a fraction of what she’s got in the bank. Eric Johnson was an unemployed NFL player when he met Jessica Simpson in 2010. At the time, Johnson was in between teams while Simpson’s newest entrepreneurial ventures were thriving and her net worth was up to a cool $150 million. Now seven years into their relationship Johnson is still unemployed, but now the father of two. Ironically, when Jessica was asked about her biggest money mistakes in an interview, she said “my first marriage.”
Usher and Tameka Foster
Usher and Tameka Foster were married for just two years until they called it quits in 2009. Amidst their divorces, Foster’s name was constantly in tabloids with allegations that she married the multiplatinum Grammy Award winner for his money. Foster was quick to shoot down rumors saying, “I think this is the typical stereotype. If a woman who has lesser means—even if she is successful and hard-working and does her thing in her own right—marries someone, that’s what they call ‘marrying up,’ I guess. Someone who has more means or more money, they’re automatically a gold digger…The woman is always the gold digger. It’s kind of an insult to the men because it implies they’re not lovable.”
Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick
Although Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick never married, the pair has three children together and were in an on-again-off-again relationship for over a decade. It’s been reported that one of the reasons the pair didn’t wed was because Scott was very upset when Kourtney mentioned a prenuptial agreement. Still, since the two share children together, the oldest Kardashian sister will likely have to pay Disick child support—and lots of it. In an interview with Page 6, California based family law attorney Goldie Schon said: “Children have the right to live in the lifestyle of both parents regardless of where they are. While Scott may only have the kids 10 percent of the time, because Kourtney is such a high-income earner it’s very likely she would pay him child support.”
Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain
Courtney Love may be a successful singer in her own right, but the controversial star known for her marriage to the late Kurt Cobain is considered one of Hollywood’s most notorious gold diggers. In the gut-wrenching documentary Soaked in Bleach, a private investigator is hired by Love to investigate the case of Cobain’s mysterious death. The move shows how suspicious he investigator is of Love and alludes that the singer knew Cobain was going to divorce her and she needed to do something to get her money. While the answer about Cobain’s death may never be clear, Love doesn’t seem like a great lover.
Gabriel Aubry and Halle Berry
Gabriel Aubry was doing pretty well for himself when he nabbed a modeling contract with the likes of Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein. But the former model let his greedy side show when he married actress Halle Berry. After a tumultuous relationship that ended in a full-on fist fight with Berry’s new man Olivier Martinez, Aubrey tried to take her for all she was worth. Heads turned when Aubry took Berry to court and asked for $20,000 a month in child support plus a cool $500,000 in lawyer fees. While he didn’t get his full asking price, he did walk away with $16,000 a month in child support and $300,000 for those lawyer fees. Yikes.
Oksana Grigorieva and Mel Gibson
The thing about gold diggers is they rarely admit to being gold diggers. That wasn’t the case for Mel Gibson’s former lady, Oksana Grigorieva. Grigorieva admitted that she was looking for a “sugar daddy” before she met the actor. It’s not surprising that the leggy brunette became pregnant within a few months of the two dating. It wasn’t long before there was trouble in paradise, including accusations that Gibson was being physically and verbally abusive towards her. Grigorieva was eventually awarded $16 million in court, but only received $750,000 since she spoke out about the abuse which voided her settlement.
Rachel Hunter and Rod Stewart
Rachel Hunter met Rod Stewart when she was just 21 years old. Stewart, who was 24 years her senior, married Hunter just three months later. Although Hunter was a budding Sports Illustrated swimsuit model, Stewart was always decades deep in a lucrative career. The sheer age difference and fast nuptials made heads turn and tabloids frequently speculated Hunter’s intentions with the rock star. Despite rumors, the two were married nine years and had two children together before calling it quits in 1999…but, not before Hunter netted a whopping $66 million from the musician in court.
Shanna Moakler and Her Various Ex-Lovers
Shanna Moakler might be one of the most shameless gold diggers on our list. The leggy blonde has dated lots of notable men in her pursuit of fame and fortune. There was her short-lived relationship with Billy Idol that ended in the late ‘90s. Then, there was her tumultuous relationship with boxer Oscar De La Hoya, which ended when she said her beau escorting another woman to the Latin Grammy Awards—this tiff won Moakler a cool $62.5 million palimony suit. Finally, there was her marriage, reality show and eventual divorce with Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker. As of 2017, Moakler is single and perhaps plotting her next victim.
Pilar Sanders and Deion Sanders
The whole family is involved in the drama between Pilar Sanders and her estranged husband Deion. The actress and former NFL player were married in 1999 and seemed blissfully happy until things went sour in 2011. Deion served Pilar divorce papers and then the abuse accusations came rolling in. Things only got more dramatic when Pilar started claiming that Deion’s daughter Deiondra “mind-tricked her into believing she really is a worthless, gold diggin’ h*.” Her response? To sue for a casual $200 million! Not only was she denied this money, but Deion was awarded $2.2 million for defamation.
Tracey Edmonds and Babyface, Eddie Murphy, and Deion Sanders
You’re reading that headline correctly—Tracey Edmonds has been in relationships with the likes of Babyface, Eddie Murphy, Deion Sanders, and more. And she hasn’t walked away empty-handed when the relationships have ended either. Some gold diggers truly go above and beyond, rather than stopping at just one. Edmonds has been married to both Babyface and Murphy before she got serious with Sanders. Her bank account reflects it—she is reportedly worth $30 million. Considering Edmonds is a businesswoman and the CEO of Edmonds Entertainment, perhaps these relationships are all part of a bigger business strategy.
V Stiviano and Donald Sterling
V. Stiviano doesn’t exactly have the cleanest reputation. She is the alleged mistress of Clippers owner Donald Sterling, who showered her with lavish gifts. Sounds innocent enough right? Nope. There are a few things to consider with this situation. One, v. Stiviano is 31 and assumably broke while Sterling is 83 and worth a cool $3.1 billion. Two, he was already married! Obviously, a beautiful 30-something doesn’t date an 83-year-old billionaire without some sort of monetary intent, but considering he was married, makes this gold digging case that much worse. Donald’s wife Shelly got her revenge when V. was ordered to pay her $3 million in sugar daddy gifts.
Courtney Stodden and Doug Hutchinson
Courtney Stodden was just 16 when she married 51-year-old Doug Hutchinson, making their relationship one of the most controversial in recent Hollywood history. The teen’s ever-changing appearance, multiple plastic surgeries and the couple’s appearance on “Couples Therapy” only fueled the fire that Stodden was just doing this for publicity. Even though the couple has since split, the pair still lives together and Hutchinson says she is going to continue to co-manage her career with her ex-hubby. Unsurprisingly, her net worth has reached the millions since her marriage to the Green Mile star.
Dean McDermott and Tori Spelling
Tori Spelling is beautiful, rich, and apparently, quite easy to manipulate. The actress got together with Dean McDermott after he cheated on his first wife with her—red flag much? Since then, the couple has had four children together amidst a whole bunch of drama, including a cheating scandal where Dean slept with a woman on a trip to Canada. As if this wasn’t bad enough, many people have speculated Dean is only with Tori for her money. Her father is the late Aaron Spelling, who was one of the most successful television producers ever and worth $500 million when he passed away.
