Celebs You Didn’t Know Were Bisexual

Some of these celebrities are open about their sexuality, but others have recently come out as bisexual. All have different reasons and some refuse to be defined by a label. Check out which celebs are bisexual, some might surprise you!

Billie Joe Armstrong

The Green Day singer talked about his sexuality in an interview in 1995. He says “I think I’ve always been bisexual. I mean, it’s something that I’ve always been interested in. I think everybody kind of fantasizes about the same sex. People are born bisexual, and it’s just in our heads that it’s bad, when it’s not bad at all. It’s a very beautiful thing.”

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga opened up to Barbara Walters in 2009 about being bisexual. In 2013, she reiterated that she has taken “a few dips in the lady pond.” Her song “Poker Face” is about her sexual identity as well, which shows her bisexuality. While some people said it was a lie, Gaga defended herself saying “this is who I am and who I have always been.”

Evan Rachel Wood

Evan Rachel Wood

During Bisexual Awareness Week in 2015, Wood tweeted out her own issues about being bisexual within the LGBT community. In one tweet she said, “I can assure you that whatever ‘straight privilege’ I sometimes get accused of having, gets erased by #biphobia.” She went on to talk about her own battle when it comes to being bisexual saying she “wasn’t gay or straight enough.”

Clive Davis

Clive Davis

Clive Davis is a big music executive who has worked with names like Whitney Houston and Bruce Springsteen. In his memoir, he talks about being bisexual and having relationships with both men and woman. In an interview with Katie Couric, Davis said, “You don’t have to be only one thing or another.”

Megan Mullally

Megan Mullally

In 2009, Mullally identified herself as bisexual in an interview with The Advocate. She then told Queerty “I said that I thought that everybody is innately bisexual. I think there are different levels of awareness attached to that, so I may believe that everybody is innately bisexual, but somebody who is very homophobic may not see that quality in themselves in any way, shape or form.”

Andy Dick

Andy Dick

Andy Dick has been pretty open about being attracted to both women and men. In a 2006 interview, he said, “Just because I’ve been with guys, and I’m bi, doesn’t mean I’m gay.” Dick does in fact, have three children and is married to Ivone Kowalczyk.

Jillian Michaels

Jillian Michaels

This celebrity may surprise you because she is not as open as other celebs about her sexuality. She was a trainer on the Biggest Loser and came out in 2010 as being bisexual. She said “Let’s just say I believe in healthy love. If I fall in love with a woman, that’s awesome. If I fall in love with a man, that’s awesome.” She is currently engaged to Heidi Rhoades and the couple adopted a child together.

Carrie Brownstein

Carrie Brownstein

Carrie is most known for her starring role in “Portlandia.” She is also a former singer and guitarist for the rock band Sleater-Kinney. Most people have assumed she is gay, but the truth is she is bisexual. She was first outed in 1995 by Spin Magazine, followed by the The New York Times calling her “openly gay” in 2012. She corrected them saying that she is not gay, but bisexual.

Amber Rose is very open with her sexuality. In an interview, she said “I can be in love with a woman, I can be in love with a man. I’m not into bestiality, but as far as humans go, I definitely find beauty in everybody, whether they’re heavy-set, super-skinny, if they’re white, black, Indian, Asian, Spanish.” So basically she is open to pretty much all human beings, which is beautiful.

In a 2012 interview with US Weekly, Snooki calls herself bisexual. She says, “I would consider myself bi. I’ve done stuff with girls before. But I would never be with a girl because I like…penis. But I’ve experimented.” So basically she likes hooking up with girls but not on a long-term basis?

Vanessa Carlton first came out during a performance in 2010. On deciding to come out she said she felt compelled to give the bisexual community a voice, “[I] felt their pain, in a way. I wanted to connect with them. I wanted them to know I understood.” After coming out, Vanessa said it helped her relationship with her fans.

Fergie is now married to actor Josh Duhamel and they have a son together. But before the star got married, she came out as bisexual in an interview. Fergie says she has been with women and has said, “I’ve had a lot of fun with women, and I’m not ashamed of it.” She does admit she loves a man who is well-endowed, which her husband apparently is.

Kim Zolciak

Kim Zolciak

Kim was made famous by “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.” She came out as a bisexual right before announcing her breakup with her girlfriend DJ Tracy Young. The couple did spend an entire three months together before Kim just ghosted Tracy instead of confronting her of the breakup. Pretty crappy move.

Cynthia Nixon is very open about her sexuality and says being bisexual “is not a choice.” Cynthia is best known for her role in “Sex and the City” as Miranda Hobbes. Over the years, Cynthia has publicly dated both males and females. She is married to Christine Marinoni but had dated Danny Mozes in the past.

In an interview with Huffington Post, Kesha said “I don’t love just men. I love people. It’s not about gender. It’s just about the spirit that exudes from that other person you’re with.” She really doesn’t label herself as gay, straight, or bisexual, just that she likes people.

Frenchie Davis is best known for being on American Idol and The Voice, and is a Broadway actress. She first came out to her family when she was 16, saying that she like both girls and boys. She has opened up about her struggles being bisexual in the gay community. She says some lesbians were turned off by the fact that she was bisexual.

Drew Barrymore first came out in 2003. She said in an interview “Do I like women sexually? Yea, I do. Totally. I have always considered myself bisexual… I love a woman’s body. I think a woman and a woman together are beautiful, just as a man and a woman together are beautiful. Being with a woman is like exploring your own body, but through someone else.” Well put, Drew.

Amber Heard is Johnny Depp’s estranged wife.Amber has talked about her sexuality in an interview with Elle Magazine. Since she first became famous she has been open about her bisexuality because she “didn’t want to look like I was hiding anything.”

Angelina Jolie is another celebrity who has been open about her bisexuality. She has had public relationships with both men and women. In an interview with OK Magazine, she said “I have loved women in the past and slept with them. I think if you love and want to pleasure a woman, particularly if you are a woman yourself, then certainly you know how to do things a certain way.”

David Bowie had an unconventional love life, particularly in the 70’s. While he was married to a model, the two of them both had affairs with other people, of both genders. He first met his wife when they were sleeping with the same man, which is an interesting way to meet your SO. The couple eventually divorced and he later married Iman. There have also been rumors that he and Mick Jagger may have been lovers.

Actress Bai Ling has been opened about her bisexuality from the time she has entered the spotlight. “At first when I came to the United States I didn’t always have an interpreter in interviews and I didn’t speak English so well. There was some confusion. My name is pronounced ‘bi,’ so when I was asked, ‘Are you bi?’ I said, ‘Yes, I am Bai.’ ‘Do you like men?’ ‘Of course!” Do you like women? ‘Why yes!’ And later I found out what that means and I said, ‘Sure, I am bi!’ But I think the interpreters and the reporters thought that I didn’t know what I was saying because I was so open about it.”

She does not try to identify herself by her sexuality saying “I’m not trying to be, like, the bisexual, lesbian rapper. I don’t live on other people’s terms.”

Anna Paquin is best known for her role on True Blood. She is currently married to Stephen Moyer, but cleared up her sexuality on Larry King Now. He asked if she was bisexual and Anna answered “Well, I don’t think it’s a past tense thing. Are you still straight if you are with somebody?…If you were to break up with them or if they were to die, it doesn’t prevent your sexuality from existing. It doesn’t really work like that.”

Margaret Cho

Margaret Cho has an open marriage with Al Ridenour. She said, “We got together because… we both have this [idea], ‘I just don’t want to have relationships with the same person my whole life. That’s just gross.'” Margaret explained that she has relationships with other women and her partner has other relationships as well. She identifies as bisexual.

Megan Fox says she is definitely bisexual. In a 2011 interview, she said “I think people are born bisexual and then make subconscious choices based on the pressures of society. I have no question in my mind about being bisexual. But I’m also a hypocrite: I would never date a girl who was bisexual, because that means they also sleep with men, and men are so dirty that I’d never want to sleep with a girl who had slept with a man.” Wait, what? Megan Fox is married to Brian Austin Green, so she can sleep with men but the women she sleeps with can’t?

Alan Cumming is best known for his role in “The Good Wife.” Alan has been in public relationships with both men and women. When it comes to his sexuality, he says “I feel that’s what I am. I see a worrying trend among LGBT people, that if you identify yourself in just one way, you close yourself off to other experiences. My sexuality has never been black or white; it’s always been gray. I’m with a man, but I haven’t closed myself off to the fact that I’m still sexually attracted to women.”

Amy Winehouse

While she was alive, the late Amy Winehouse told her friends about her bisexuality. She said it was “very satisfying” being with other women. Amy also told her friends “I like girls as well. I have had relationships with other women but that doesn’t mean I don’t still love Blake. There is something about being with a woman that is very satisfying. I don’t care what people think about me being bi – I do what feels good.”

Cary Grant

Cary Grant’s daughter opened up about her father’s sexuality in a memoir. She said “Dad somewhat enjoyed being called gay. He said it made women want to prove the assertion wrong.” While Cary kept his personal life pretty quiet, he did have a close friendship with Randolph Scott who he shared a house with in the 30’s.

There has been some evidence that Hans Christian Anderson was bisexual. He had crushes on both women and men, even writing love letters to men. This was not uncommon during the Romantic era, so his being bisexual is only considered a theory at this point as there is no hard evidence to say he had relationships with both men and women.

The lead singer of REM says he doesn’t like the term bisexual, but considers himself 80 percent gay. In an interview he said “On a sliding scale of sexuality I’d place myself around 80-20, but I definitely prefer men to women. I had relations with, and enjoyed relations, with women until I met someone that I fell in love with, and who is now my boyfriend.” He doesn’t like the term bisexual because he says it feels like a label.

Gillian Anderson

Gillian Anderson has been in relationships with both men and women. In an interview with OUT she said, “I was in a relationship with a girl for a long time when I was in high school, and then I was in a relationship with a punk rock drug addict…Yeah, yeah, well it’s…You know, I’m old enough that I can talk about it.”

Cate Blanchett

In May of 2015, it appeared that Cate came out as bisexual to Variety. There is some confusion because in a later interview Cate said, “From memory, the conversation ran: ‘Have you had relationships with women?’ And I said: ‘Yes, many times. Do you mean have I had sexual relationships with women? Then the answer is no.’ But obviously, that didn’t make it.” So this can be a little confusing because what type of relationships did she have with women or was she just back-tracking?

Mel B. is definitely one to kiss and tell. The Spice Girl opened up in an interview about her past experiences with women. While she is happily married to her husband she said, “At 17 I wanted to spoon and snuggle and do everything with a woman… But not right now.” She went on to open up to say she has kissed all of the other Spice Girls.

Zoe Saldana has opened up about being bisexual. In a comment she once made, she said she could see herself raising children with a woman. When asked about that comment later, she said “It was a statement that I strongly stand by. As of today, I’ve been attracted to the male species, but if one day I wake up and want to be with a woman, I will do that because it is my life, therefore it is my decision.”

Jessie J came out about her sexuality about seven years ago, as bisexual. Yet, for her, she said it was a phase. She has said, “I apologise to anyone who is offended by me calling dating girls a ‘phase’ but I have to be honest with me, for me. And for me it was…I didn’t say bisexuality isn’t real.”

Michelle Rodriguez came out as bisexual in early 2016. Her reason? “I’m getting older. Eventually, it’s going to wrinkle up and I’m not going to be able to use it. I wanted to be honest about who I am and see what happens.” She says both sexes are intriguing, which is why she is bisexual.

When asked about her sexuality she said, “Google me, I’m not hiding. I think in three or four years, there are going to be a whole lot more people who don’t think it’s necessary to figure out if you’re gay or straight. It’s like, just do your thing.”

John Travolta

In 2012 rumors began circulating that actor John Travolta may be bisexual. It stemmed from Douglas Gotterba, Travolta’s pilot from the 80’s, telling the National Enquirer that he had romantic relations with the Grease actor, and was planning on writing a tell-all memoir about his experience. Travolta (and his lawyer) insistent the rumors aren’t true. Margret Cho, mentioned earlier in this article, says she feels sorrow for Travolta, in feeling that he cannot share that part of his life.
