Can You Believe These Celebs Are Turning 50 In 2019?

Not long ago, turning 50 could be debilitating for celebrities, especially women. But these days, it's just a number. There are many actors, actresses, and other entertainers who are thriving in their careers, despite reaching the half-century mark. Healthy lifestyles (and if we're being honest — good genes) have helped some of these stars not only continue on their paths but also achieve even more success. You won't believe some of the celebs who are turning 50 this year.

It's hard to believe that one of our famous Friends is turning 50 in 2019. The actress, who recently starred in Netflix film Dumplin, told InStyle magazine in 2015 that she stays youthful by taking care of her skin, eating well and exercising. She also noted that she wasn't a fan of Botox.

The actress does, however, use noninvasive treatments such as lasers, Thermage and Ultherapy. She also likes a good microcurrent facial. "People lose perspective. I look around and see how bad plastic surgery and injections can really kick you in the [expletive]," she noted.

Jason Bateman is keeping busy these days, appearing in shows such as Ozark and Arrested Development. The child star turned successful adult actor has been entertaining audiences for decades.

Bateman celebrated the monumental age on January 14, 2019, and still looks youthful at 50. The actor remains popular and is even appearing in Hyundai's comedic Super Bowl spot. "Jason is really the only person that could pull off humor like this while staying so likable," said Barney Goldberg, executive creative director of Innocean USA.

Jack Black has entertained audiences for years with his comedic films like School of Rock, Nacho Libre, and Kung Fu Panda, among others. While he has the heart of a child, he certainly isn't one himself and is turning 50 in the summer of 2019. He recently opened up about his struggle with drug addiction.

"In my wild, younger years I've definitely gone down some risky roads and I'm very fortunate to still be alive, to be honest with you. I partied pretty hard, and man, I definitely had a very robust, ridiculous, idiotic period in the '80s," he told The Herald Sun.

Cate Blanchett has such beautiful skin it's hard to believe that she's reaching the half-century mark. In a 2017 interview with The Cut, she talked about image-obsessed Hollywood and how challenging it can be for women.

"Some of the women were interested in the work and the characters. Some, more in how they look. I realized that I didn't want to be in the latter," she noted. Blanchett made the conscious decision to focus on her work, not her body. “The obsession on one’s looks can make you a bit crazy," she continued. “And I thought, I don’t want to go crazy.”

It's hard to believe that Terrence Howard is turning 50 in March. The Empire, Crash, Iron Man, and Hustle & Flow star started his career on the small screen and is also an accomplished musician.

The actor recently made headlines after proposing to his ex-wife, Mira Pak. The pair divorced in 2015 but patched things up and are back on track towards marital bliss. He wrote on Instagram: "It took me 45 years to find you, honey. It took me 45 years to find you. But now that I have you in my 50th year, I will spend the rest of eternity at your side."

This is not a typo. Jennifer Lopez really is turning 50 this year — on July 24 to be exact. Her face and body look more like that of a 30-year-old (or even a 20-year- old!) than they do of one who will soon be celebrating a half-century on earth. What's the secret to her youthful appearance?

Lopez always removes her makeup before going to sleep and applies night cream. She also uses facial oils to boost her tired skin. Lopez avoids too much sun and religiously applies sunscreen. The singer-actress also exercises each day without fail.

Peter Dinklage turns the big 5-Oh in June 2019. He has appeared in various projects over the years, including The Station Agent, Elf, Death at a Funeral, and X-Men: Days of Future Past. But his most iconic role is that of Tyrion Lannister on the HBO hit series Game of Thrones.

The show is gearing up towards its last and final season, and Dinklage recently talked about how he nearly turned down the role. "Dwarves in these genres always have this look. My guard was up," Dinklage told the New York Times. "Not even my guard—my metal fence, my barbed wire was up. Even The Lord of the Rings had dwarf-tossing jokes in it."

Brian Hugh Warner, also known as Marilyn Manson, turned 50 in early January 2019. It's a little hard to believe that the shock rocker is fully entrenched in middle age. Manson burst on the scene in the '90s, making waves for his ghoulish performances and rock and roll lifestyle. While he's not exactly old, he's definitely not the young punk he used to be.

He celebrated his 50th birthday at Madame Siam on January 5, and video from the event showed that the party was somewhat tame, considering his reputation. Manson even seemed to get a bit emotional and shy while partygoers sang Happy Birthday to him.

When you think of Gerard Butler, you can't help but remember his amazing physique as King Leonides in 300. While he was a bit younger at the time (37 years old), he still looks pretty fantastic. And he continues to work out a lot.

"Right now I'm training five times a week," he told GQ in 2016. "It’s always a little harder when you’re on the road, unless you’re there for a while. I do a lot of cardio but I’m starting to lift heavy because in my next movie I’m supposed to be beefy, a big undercover cop in LA covered in tattoos."

Some stars, like Catherine Zeta-Jones, look better with age. The Oscar winner, who's appeared in films such as Chicago, Traffic, and the Mask of Zorro, turns 50 in September and is still as beautiful as ever. She shared some of her beauty tips with W back in 2017.

"Water, maintaining my pH balance, no alcohol and thorough diet keeping my body free of any inflammation inside and out," the actress noted. She also said her dermatologist's best advice was, "Don't forget to check your whole body for new and different shape freckles, not just your face, but the bits you don’t look at every day."

Renée Zellweger has had a successful career with films such as Chicago, Cold Mountain, Jerry Maguire, and Bridget Jones's Diary. But when she reemerged in Hollywood to star in and promote Bridget Jones' Baby, she was criticized for seemingly undergoing the knife.

"I've never seen the maturation of a woman as a negative thing," Zellweger told the Hollywood Reporter. "I've never seen a woman stepping into her more powerful self as a negative. But this conversation perpetuates the problem. Why are we talking about how women look? Why do we value beauty over contribution? We don't seem to value beauty over contribution for men. It's simply not a conversation."

Fans of Grey's Anatomy know Ellen Pompeo as the titular character, Meredith Grey. She has been on the show since 2005 and has no plans to leave. "My decision to stay on Grey's was based solely on age," Pompeo told People in 2016. “At 33, I was wise enough to know my clock was already ticking in Hollywood.”

She didn't start acting until her mid-20s. When her contract re-negotiations came up she noted that she “was definitely aware of how challenging it would be to find other roles in my late 30s and early 40s.” She's still going strong and celebrating her 50th birthday in November 2019.

He parks a blue two-door 1992 Geo Metro in front of his studio for a reason. "I was so broke and hungry I couldn't afford rent. The New Kids on the Block were one of music's biggest boy bands in the '80s and early '90s. Three of the five members are either already 50 or turning the milestone age this year. That sounds ridiculous, doesn't it? Donnie Wahlberg celebrates his birthday in August, while Danny Wood turns 50 in May.

After the band split up, Wahlberg transitioned to acting. He currently stars in Blue Bloods and produces and stars in Wahlburgers on A&E. He's also touring again with New Kids again. The group even performed at Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve 2019. Fifty, schmifty. There's no stopping him now.

Last year he was hospitalized for a gastrointestinal perforation that left him bedridden for three months. Reports say he was very sick and in critical condition. Fortunately, he recovered. Jason Priestley is another actor who is aging well. While he no longer resembles the baby faced Brandon Walsh from Beverly Hills, 90210, the star still looks pretty darn good. Several years ago he survived a very serious car accident that made him reevaluate his life.

"I broke my back, broke both my feet, ripped my nose off my face, had to have this part of my skull rebuilt," he revealed in a 2018 interview. “That whole experience changed me in that it just made me appreciate every day a little bit more. I was 33 when I had that accident, and that was the first time I came to grips with my mortality."
